Advice

Please help a very anxious momma 🥲 my baby turned 10 months 3 days ago and she’s not clapping/waving or pointing. I made the mistake of googling it and it says it can be an early sign of autism? I suffer with bad anxiety and now can’t stop being paranoid 💔 are your babies doing any of this at 10 months old? Should I raise this with her Gp? 😭

Mine isn't doing any of those things either. My GP said if other milestones are okay then its not worry, I think a lot of babies don't do those things til around a year old x

My eldest didn’t wave or clap until around 15 months and didn’t point until 18 months. My second is 9.5 months and claps but no signs of waving or pointing. I wouldn’t worry about it until they are at least a year. All kids are different.

According to research I have read (my nephew has autism), the most indicative early sign (<12m) that autistic kids have in common is losing eye contact with main carer - but diagnosis is very difficult at early stage. They develop with different speeds so don’t worry too much!

Mine is turning 11 months in 6 days, and she can so far only clap. Health visitor came two weeks ago and wasn't concerned.

My LO claps their hands when you ask them too but I wouldn’t worry until around 15/16 months for all actions you listed.

My son started clapping at around 9 months, waving 1 month ago and pointing literally today was the first time he done it. He is almost 15 months and the point is not all children meet all milestones exactly when “they are meant to”. It’s too early to think about autism.

Mine isn’t doing any of these things and she is 10 months tomorrow.

Not mine either

Mine started clapping yesterday but no signs of waving or pointing. These milestones are normally by 12-13 months. X

My baby girl can now clap, point, and wave. Her 15 year old brother was bent on teaching her how to wave, and she has learned it in a matter of days. Mind you, she's 11 months old now. She was born a few weeks early. Plus, they say not to worry as every child is different and that these milestones are only guidelines or something like that.
