Ur suppose to sterilise after every use if u r putting formula in it. However I just wash it in between each use and sterilise it once a day, it's only ever having sterilised formula in it so I don't see the harm in reusing a few times in a day. But it's personal preference I'm sure other people would have a problem with that
Lol didn't even know you were supposed to sterilise it, just been washing it
I will sterilise mine after every use if it's had milk in it. If I've only used it to cool a portion of the boiled water (ie measured the full amount in the bottle then poured most into the rapid cool leaving a "hot shot" for the formula in the bottle) then i won't wash/sterilise before the next use. The boiled water is sterile, so as long as no milk is inside, then it's fine (in my opinion, anyway).
Obviously you don't wash or sterilize the lid with the screen on it though 😉
@Rachel I do wash the lid.... What do you do with it? Because you're supposed to shake it so the formula gets on it no? Am I using it completely wrong then?
Like Chloe mentioned you are best doing the hot shot method to save having to sterilise at night. That's what we do xxx
@Becky yeah if you wash the digital lid, it will break. It tells you when the formula is at a safe enough temperature to give to baby. Nothing is supposed to get on it.
@Toni what's the hot shot method?
@Becky you don't put any formula into the rapid cool. You measure the boiling water from the kettle in the bottle. We use mam and it has measurements down the side. Then leave about 30ml in the bottom and pour the rest of the water into the rapid cool to cool down. Then in the 30 ml that is still in the bottle. Add your scoops of formula and mix. Then add the cooled water and you are good to go. The rapid cool only has sterile hot water so it doesn't need sterilising. 😊
@Rachel You have to shake the rapid cool to mix the formula. So you do have to wash and sterilise the lid! You just can’t use steam to sterilise it!
@Rachel u r a 100% suppose to wash the lid and sterilise it, it says on instructions, use warm soapy water and cold sterilisation
Remember you’re meant to leave the rapid cool at least 3 hours between uses xx
It says clearly in the instructions to not submerge the digital lid in water. You are allowed to wipe it, but that is it. If you are going to sterilise it, you can only use the Nuby steriliser to do it.
I used to use out just to cool the water down, not formula, that way doesn’t need sterilising. I’d do the hot shot method with formula then cool the rest of the plain water and add that in afterwards

@Rachel The digital lid should be cleaned in warm, soapy water. After cleaning, the lid should be sterilised by UV sterilisation or cold-water sterilisation - for cold-water sterilisation, please follow manufacturer's instructions. The RapidCool™ lid must glow Nuby red when attached to the flask to indicate the water is at the correct temperature. Keep the flask upside down to make sure the water is in contact with the lid for at least 30 seconds. The seal inside the RapidCool lid is also removable to make cleaning after each use super quick and easy. After the lid and seal have been cleaned the lid will be safe to use.
We do hot shot method too x
@Rachel, I definitely do wash and sterilise the lid. I take the seal out and wash the same as I do bottles etc, it then goes into the milton cold water solution to sterilise as per the instructions. If putting formula into rapid cool, then this comes into contact with the lid as you have to turn it upside down to activate the digital thermometer and therefore needs to be sterilised. I have 2 rapid cools, both (including the lids) have been submerged in water, sometimes overnight, when in the steriliser, and still work fine.
Can someone explain to me how these Nuby Rapid cools work please? You put in hot water? And it cools it down? Then I can only use it once? I'm confused
@Star You put the amount of boiling water needed for a bottle in the Rapid Cool with the formula powder. It cools it within minutes and then you just wash and reuse. It’s basically the opposite of a hot water flask x
@Star you make up the bottle in the nuby rapid cool, shake it & press the lid & wait for the lid to turn from red to green, which means it is cool enough to give to baby.
@Katherine thank you!, but what if I'm out and there's no hot water and I need more than one bottle? Because that's what I've been struggling with lately 😭
@Star I take a thermos out with the hot water in. If you get a decent one, the water will stay hot all day. So I'll do a kettle full in the morning, make babies' first bottle, and pour the rest of the fresh boiled water into the thermos. The temperature then stays above 70 degrees for about 12 hours. I also do this when not going anywhere to save boiling the kettle before each feed.
@Star Yes what Chloe says but I will also ask in cafes and restaurants for boiling water. We have two rapid cools and if I need to do more than two bottles I just wash it out with boiling water x
We used to sterilise ours after every use. We used our Tommee Tippee prep machine for night times.
