There's a weaning group on the app you can use for help with this. But essentially, what I'm planning & a few have recommended is, milk in the morning & around lunch, give food & see how they take to it, if they're still hungry, give a bottle.
Milk is the main source of nutrition until the age of 1. Milk first, then weaned food. But essentially, it’ll be a teaspoon of whatever food (just once a day) & they always advise to start with vegetables that aren’t sweet. So spinach etc. This is because if you offer sweet food first then you’ll struggle with other foods. I am sure you know but the guidance is to wean at or after 6 months, but most importantly, once full neck & trunk control is developed. Baby will be at high risk of choking otherwise.
I got told by my HV to offer milk as normal. And, to remember that the solids aren’t really going to fill them up just yet as there’s a lot that comes with weaning, it’s sensory, opening their pallet, hand-eye coordination etc. So it’s ok if they don’t eat a lot to start with, my 7month old doesn’t eat loads now and still has his usual milk bottles x
Offer him his usual bottles, all of them. Then 30-60 mins later offer a teaspoon or 2 of solids. Just once a day to start with and over the next few months you can build up on it.
still offer milk as usual, eventually you'll get the hang of when they want milk or when they want solid. that's how I did it and it worked for me aha
