Help

Anyone know any ways to make hand expressing feel less like a chore? I can't use my pump fur to the fact I only get 1 Oz with both combined but when I hand express I get 5 to 6 oz combined. Also need any tips on increasing supply. I am 2 weeks postpartum but would like to build my stash.

Have you tried a manual pump? The medela one comes highly recommended.

I massage my breast to squeeze out breast milk. Theres video online on how to do it. This is the only way i get out a to of milk. An electric pump while not massaging gets almost no milk out. I also use a hand pump while massaging out the milk. I can get five ounces in less than five minutes this way.

@Dana Lew yes that's the one I have I'm size 19 but the lactation nurse said I could use 24

I think your supply is fine but you need flange inserts. Because if you use the wrong size you don’t get much milk and also pumping can hurt. Because I had this problem too, I have a lot of milk but when I pump I barely get 1 oz because the flange is too big for my nipples. But my baby is gaining weight and has enough diapers. If you want to increase supply, keep on hand expressing, pumping or nursing if your baby can latch. Make sure you get enough calories and water and try to destress. But 5-6 oz is a good supply. Too much milk is not good because I had too much milk that my baby would choke and gag and take forever to eat.

@Nathalie hand expressing isn't fun. My daughter does latch which is what I do first then hand express into a bottle of she is still hungry
