My lo loved the usbourne first sticker books, and lots of snacks! Xx
@Francesca thank you so much! Wish you were crewing for our flights 😅 it's our 1st time going on a long haul flight since he was 4m , so trying to be as prepared as can be. Thanks for the helpful suggestions and reassurances
@Natallie thank you! I last minute ordered a sticker book and simple busy board book. And yes, lots of snacks for sure!
The busy book was a bit of a lifesaver for us. Our son also loved the quiet interactive books like ‘Press Here’ and they kept him entertained https://www.amazon.co.uk/Press-Here-Herve-Tullet/dp/0811879542 I did also just download some tv shows for a bit of the journey too (although he refused to wear the headphones so just watched the screen for a bit but meant it didn’t hold his attention as much as I’d hoped).
I just did a 13 hour flight with my 16 month old on Wednesday. I hid a few of his fave books / toys a few weeks before so he hadn’t seen them; busy book; toys such mr stretch and fidget spinner; lots of snacks. Remember you can take liquids such as yoghurts/puree for babies under 2 so we took a squeeze yoghurt & porridge pouch thing as well as wafers etc. We’ve travelled a lot with him & the start of this flight was hard because he’s so energetic & just wants to run around everywhere! However long haul flights have the perk that they will sleep! We let him stand near the toilets a bit when he needed to. Do you have the bassinet seat? If BA, they can provide a chair for older babies which looks a bit like a bouncer chair! We had it on a long haul flight in the summer. I think I just let my son be nosy at the start - people are pretty good/friendly about it! Also depending on where you’re going there will probably be other babies on the flight which is nice as the babies wave etc!
I have a super active girl and we flew beginning of October, not long haul but for us the best decision we made was for me and her dad to both have an aisle seat on these same row! This way she could be down in the aisle stood between us, stretching her legs and having room to play. We just lifted her each time trollleys / people came but it worked so well. She was so happy being able to move about. She would get brave a walk up and down the aisles a bit but luckily everyone found her cute 😅 We took a few toys, fidget spinners, pegs on string, stackers but she wasn’t interested at all. Miss Rachel / in the night garden occupied her for take off and landing when she had to be sat on us. Good luck!
Fidget spinner, busy book, pop it toy, if flying BA / VIRGIN they give out sky flyer packs to the kids which has crayons etc in. Lots of snacks, if they will wear headphones and a tablet % in flight entertainment. If you have brought them their own seat rather than being on your lap you can rent the airline approved sky beds so they can hopefully sleep whist on board And coming from a former long haul cabin crew ... we love having kids on board and are always happy to help / give you a breather and remember above all else you and your baby have just as muxh right tp be on thay plane as everyone else so do not stress if he's not quiet etc xxx
