I have a large hard lump above c section scar

Had my baby 7 days ago and I have quite a large hard lump above my c section scar on the right side. It’s too big for scar tissue. Has anyone experienced this?

I havnt. Maybe call your doctor and ask. But it could be scar tissue. Scar tissue can be pretty big.

I don’t want to freak you out - but this happened to me, I assumed I was healing, ignored it, and ended up back in the hospital for 5 nights with an internal infection. It started with a rock hard lump that was the size of the palm of my hand and then a fever took off after a few days. I’d call and make your doctor check it out. I’m definitely an extreme case, but wish I would’ve checked it out sooner!

I have this happening right now and I’m 4 weeks post surgery. First noticed it at about 2 weeks and had it checked out… I have been told it’s basically a pool of blood and should go away on its own. I go back next week to get it rebooked at.

Try massaging the area I had this as well and it helped break up the fluid pocket I did also have to go back to my ob tho for them to drain my c section

It might me a keloid

More than like a bit of scar tissue which should settle down. As you said 7 days that’s still very fresh etc x

@jayna it’s not on the actual scar it’s above it!

@Amy thank you. Never experienced this with my first so was worried 😩

The scar tissue inside you is above the external cut- 6 layers of healing beneath the surface scar.

I had the same (sore to touch hard lump and red plus a temperature) 2 and half weeks post c section and been told it’s cellulitis. Now on antibiotics and needing to stay in hospital overnight. Best to head back to maternity triage to get checked.

@Emma it doesn’t feel like scar tissue. This is my second c section so know what it should feel like. Confirmed by midwives today that it’s a hematoma

Thank you all. Had a midwife visit at home today and she checked and it feels like a hematoma. As long as I have no symptoms of infection it should fix itself!

Hernia?

Gosh so sorry! Hope everything goes OK xxx
