C section questions

I'd be interested to know how some people's recovery went after. I'm 35 weeks and am booking a planned c section

I had no problems with mine 5 years ago and mine was a planned section and have also opted for a planned one again for my twins in March. I tried walking about 2 days after not much and not far but far enough to help with recovery, my only advice would be if you need help ask for it and don't feel guilty for asking, you've got to remember you've had massive surgery 😊 xxx

I had a planned c section 5 weeks ago, my recovery went well. It took me a few days to feel confident in moving around but it definitely helps to move around even if it’s a walk round the house! I stopped feeling pain/discomfort after around 3.5 weeks, my bleeding stopped around this time too. My scar is healing lovely too.

I had an emergency c section 3 months ago. My recovery was longer than what I hear is usual. I was in a lot of pain until 4-5ish weeks pp. The pain only went away around week 8-9 and now at 15 weeks I still feel some tenderness occasionally. I feel I couldn’t enjoy the first days with my baby properly because of it. My experience is probably not the norm, I’m not sharing it to scare you in any way, just to be aware of how it might go. Also something to be aware of just in case you didn’t know (I didn’t until after the fact) and you’re planning to have more babies close together - after a C section you’re recommended to wait 18 months until ttc again

Had one 2.5 years ago and I’m having another next month. I loved my birth, zero trauma and super calm. No recovery issues, up and walking to the shower alone a few hours later, took public transport home, bled for a week, spotted for a second week, no drugs after my 10 day course, walking every day after discharge. By 6 weeks I was exercising again, by 8 weeks I was on a plane to Australia to see family. My scar vanished on its own, very small and hidden so low in my pubic hair you’d never know I had a section.

I am 6 weeks pp today and everything is fine..i stopped taking meds after a week, i was able to get off bed and grab my baby within a week.

Mine was a cat 2 emergency, so probably a bit different. I was in a lot of pain for 4 weeks, then annoying but manageable pain till about 8 weeks. My stomach was tender to touch until about 16 weeks and I'm now 30 week pp and I still get random pain that comes and goes

Everyone has different experiences depending on how well you care for yourself after I’m 7months PP but as soon as I was home I was cooking and cleaning and lifting my baby so I still get pain but my friend who got to fully relax and heal hasn’t had the same pains I’ve had. Give yourself time and remember just because the baby was “removed” and you didn’t push the baby out doesn’t mean it’s gonna be any easier. Wish the best for you and your family! Congrats đŸ„čđŸ„°

Super easy recovery. Would 100% do it again. No problem at all xx

Mine was emergency C section and I’m 5 months pp. I felt pain the first two weeks when I had to get up and sit down the first few times but I was able to walk and bend over pretty quickly after week 3

I had a c section and I was up and walking the same day

I had an emergency c section and honestly the recovery has been so smooth. Very thankful. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days and when I went home I was up and about doing laundry and light tasks. I should’ve rested more but I didn’t have any complications. Stopped the norco within a week of delivery and stopped the ibuprofen within 2 weeks

I've had two, the most recent was 6 months ago. Recovery isn't fun, the first few days are a bit rough but with a good pain killer routine it's not terrible. I would highly suggest getting high wasted underwear and pants to wear so nothing touches your scar and ice it. I found that icing it helped with the swelling and pain a lot. Good luck!

I'm 9 weeks pp, I found the recovery hard for the first few days but around a week afterwards the pain was comparable to natural pp pain (I've had both). My tips would be stay topped up on Paracetamol/ ibuprofen, get up walking around as soon as you can, shower daily with just water, rest (don't over do it even if you think you're up for it). Also make sure the hospital give you lactulose to help with the constipation and first poop afterwards cos that was very painful 😆 Good luck you'll be fine x

Honestly elective c sections are nothing like the horror stories. You'll only be in theatre around an hour and baby will be out in first 10/15 mins... the rest of the time flys by! All being well they'll probably discharge you the next day. The only pain I felt was a few seconds sting for the needles and the recovery was achey but totally manageable on paracetamol and ibuprofen taken religiously for 2 weeks. I was able to carry him in car seat briefly the next day. Got down to change him on the floor. Was putting washing in and wiping spills on the floor a few days later... it's all doable slowly and carefully. We were out walking week 2 and visiting family. Week 3 I drove.

At home: Stock up on paracetamol and ibuprofen Windeaze and constipation relief Gum and fibre bars. Still lucozade Caddy up and downstairs with Muslins Nappy, nappy bags, wipes, dummy Cream, snacks. Put everything you'll need at arm level, so no bending. For example in the shower... towel over the rail, shampoo/gel on the sink. I bought a range of pads... always discreet, maternity pads, always night/ultra. To be honest my pp bleeding was a lot lighter than I expected so it was nice to have a selection and pick. (I hated waddling around in maternity pads)
