@Star 10 days!?! How it took them a long time but I was up and walking after my emergency one within 10 hours
@Faith I was up and walking, but I thought you were asking how long until you could sit up alone. Sitting up alone without pain, 10 days. Walking out of bed post op? As soon as the catheter was out - 6 hours post op
@Star oh okay! Sorry yeah I remember it being a bit over a week or maybe two before I could manage getting in and out of bed without some sort of help. But yeah I was just wondering if it’s a planned C-section if your time being stuck in bed after surgery is less than if it was an emergency - because the extra 10hrs after my original CS felt like a million years after I had already been in labor and in bed for almost 40 hours
@Faith trust me, I get you. I was in for 5 days before my c section on day 6. It wasn't "planned" but it wasnt a huge rush. At 10am they said c section, 15:42 my daughter was born. As soon as I was on recovery, I was moving my legs and once that catheter was out, you couldn't stop me, I was running about trying to get out of there 🤣
As soon as feeling came back they were able to take the catheter out and get me up and moving (6 hours ish after) and then encouraged to keep doing small amounts. I had an emergency section first time round. Planned was infinitely better!
I was stuck in bed for between 15-18 hours because the feeling in my legs took a long time to come back but I didn’t have a lot of trouble getting in and out of bed
Mine was emergency not planned but I went home two days later and pretty much slowly went up and down the stairs every day carrying an 8.5lb baby 🫣
Mine was emergency and I was able to get changed etc once they let me out of the hospital. My normal underwear was a no-go because the elastic sat right on the scar, so I got Depends solely from an undies perspective (though you could buy granny panties too!). These plus very soft, stretchy, and LARGE comfy clothes or gowns will help
Had an emergency c section and The nurse made me get up 6hours post op maybe earlier . I would have never thought I could do it !!! But I did, and the pain was reducing a lot after walking a bit and the more I walked and moved the more I felt better. However god my bed at home was horrible to get out of it, I needed my hubby each time poor him (I stayed only 2nights at the hospital)
I’ve had two electives and in both cases was up and walking around the same night. Had a shower both times where I got changed etc. Was discharged after 24 hours with both and getting cleaned and dressed from the get go.
After both of mine, (both planned) as soon as I could feel my legs I asked for help off the bed and walked around the room, last one was 6 months ago and the midwife was shocked I wanted to be out of bed so quickly, but the sooner you are able to be mobile the better x
Had a planned c section, cathether out at 1am walking by 2am. Up and showered myself by 9am and no issues walking about. Went to the shops day 3. No pain relief needed.
C section at around 3pm, in bed until around 6/7am next morning, catheter out and up standing. By 11ish am was taking myself off to the loo and walking round. Lying to sitting or standing is hard for first few days but just take it slowly
Up waking after 3 hours Catheter out after 12 hours. Up and taking care of baby alone as husband went home to toddler. Showered and dressed after 24 hours.

I didn't have a planed c section bit I was up and walking with my iv pole the next morning I was talking with the night shift nurse and asked her when i could get up and moving and she said i should wait till the morning just incase. showered by the end of the day but that was so they could take the bandaid off my incision to check on It before they discharge me less then 24 hrs after my emergency c section. Try putting a pad on your incision site to help with the fabric sensitivity just make sure it stays clean and dry
