Breastfeeding weaning

My milk supply has officially stopped after 13 months exclusively breast feeding. But I’m now starting to feel really low/numb, anxious and just generally crap. Didn’t experience any of this pp while breastfeeding it’s like it’s all come on over the last month. Is this normal? Not sure if I should go go or wait for my hormones to settle down 🤔

It can be really tough when you stop BF, the hormones are crazy. I really didn't enjoy much of my BF journey (baby was tongue tied for 7 months and it was just generally not that great 😅) so I always thought I couldn't wait to start weaning at a year. When we finally stopped I was an emotional wreck, I had such low days and cried randomly most of the time. And I felt so much guilt for stopping even though my boy eats lots now and drinks lots of cows milk, and he wasnt really bothered we were stopping 😅. Sometimes it wss hard to even leave the house. After a few weeks it did settle and now Ive stopped for nearly 2 months and I feel great. Hang in there, you've done amazing and itll get better. If you still feel very low in another week or two then deffo give your GP a call though, hope youre ok 🤗

Just to add, if you are worried about losing the bond of BF I actually found the opposite happened, we have the best cuddles now 🤗

How did you wean? I really want to but I don't know how to start because he feeds to sleep 😫

Erm we just gradually started moving him to bottles of milk and then he just wasn’t showing signs of wanting it. So I just offered when he wanted it and it became less and less. Until eventually it was days in between each feed so I decided to just stop nursing completely. He is still a milk monster but he has bottles ☺️

I think he favoured the freedom of having his milk in a bottle. He likes lying in bed with a bottle on his own and just rolls over and goes back to sleep x
