Our pediatrician told us this too. She ad a low fever once when teething… turned into a cold
If it’s over 99 it is not due to teething. Teething can be a slight elevation in temp but not 100+
Teething doesn’t cause a fever.
Almost EVERY pediatrician says this. That’s because research shows there’s no connection between the two or that teething itself doesn’t directly cause fever. However fR many teething babies they do have a fever while teething
Medically speaking, there’s no reason for teething to cause an actual fever, which is what the pediatricians are saying. But when I mentioned this to my mom, she literally scoffed and said “ask any mother anywhere and she’ll tell you proper.” 😂 Every mom I know agrees their kid gets warm when they’re teething lol. Deffo happened to my kid. But it’s not a true fever, it’s just a slightly raised temp if that makes sense.
I think the fever when teething thing is an old wives tale. I can’t see why teething would cause an immune response. I still hear it a lot but when my baby had a fever he was definitely just sick
Trust your gut and watch your baby closely. My daughter had pneumonia and was diagnosed with “fever associated with teething”.
@Shimaya it’s so scary, I hope she recovered quickly. We also just got a email that someone from his childcare had been diagnosed with walking pneumonia. Now I’m worried that could be it instead?
When my LG cut her back teeth she'd get chest infections. Apparently never linked jist like diarrhoea " isn't linked to teething: she'd get that too .
Does he have a measured temperature over 100.4 (oral or rectal) or just feel warm? I wouldn’t attribute true fever to teething, but my baby’s forehead definitely feels hot when she gets fussy from teething
All Drs have said the same. But I have a friend whose baby will have a fever every time they were teething.
They put more things in their mouths when teething which results in more colds, illnesses etc, and therefore fevers
@Allison ahhhh, this makes so much sense!
Anything over 38 I consider non teething related unless proven otherwise. But generally if my boy is fussy and not presenting illness symptoms and temp is 37-38 I generally put it down to teething x

I’m not sure if they’re related, my son hasn’t gotten a fever yet and we’re about 14 teeth in. If there’s any truth to the comment someone made about them putting more things in their mouth, maybe you can try giving your baby a cold green onion to chew on. My son LOVED it when he was teething and the onion has benefits for their immune system and antibacterial as well
I’ve always been told this too but learnt the hard way that it could be something else. What did the doctors say ? When my son was teething he had a high temperature we took him doctors they found that he had an ear infection 🙃
