We used little potties and then moved onto a urinal and a potty seat on the toilet after a while.
I introduced a potty when she was 1 as she loved coming into the toilet with me. She just liked to sit on it and then around 16 months she started weeing on it. She was fully potty trained by about 2.5 as she struggled with a no.2 on the loo āŗļø
2.5 we officially started. Just turned 3 yesterday and are fully potty trained, might even try going to bed without a diaper or pull up this weekend
I think she's just asking specifically for boys.
I started toilet training him at 2.5 years. It took us 1 week for him to fully understand. We just had a step stool /seat for the big toilet for him. Iām glad I didnāt start earlier as we had another baby in that time &wouldnāt have been able to give him my full attention. For months leading up to this, while getting his bath ready I would get him to sit on there. I read books, played YouTube about potty training. First few days we were out in the garden with no trousers only underwear, I kept repeating ātell mama when you need toiletā He had 6 accidents on day 1, whilst having the accidents I would tell him that heās wet himself & wee needs to go in the toilet id also take him toilet after every accident, he also pooped in this underwear I took him toilet and plopped it in there š¤® we waved goodbye to the poop š© as we flushed. I used sticker charts which he loved. By day 3/4 he was having 1 accident a day. By day 6/7 he was telling me he needs toilet.
Just want to mention that I taught him to sit and pee as that is cleaner and also better for their bowels. We kept nappies on at night and after a few months he would be completely dry in the night and would actually wake up to tell us he needed toilet. We also loaded him up on fluids / juice / prunes to help him feel the fullness of the bladder.
We tried at 26m and he wasnāt ready. Next time I had time was over Christmas when was off work / at home. He was nearly 3 by then, but got it straight away. Spent a couple of days at home naked, then a my carry potty while we were out. He still wore pull ups at night until he was 3.5. Only ever used a stool and seat on the toilet so he wouldnāt be reliant on a potty.
My son toilet trained himself a few weeks before turning 2
I gave it a bit of a shot after his 2nd birthday but he wasn't interested. We waited for signs of Readiness. Started again just after his 3rd birthday and it went fine.
Started around 2 and a half. We had several false starts and the. He started refusing to even try but we did manage to get him mostly using the toilet by 3, still has a few accidents but less and less. Especially when we were struggling I wished we started earlier before the testing boundaries stage
this is quite literally my biggest fear for the upcoming futureš©
It was super easy to potty train my boys, It took less than a week each time. They were both 2.5 at the time and were showing signs of readiness. My firstborn we used a kids potty and he learned how to use it right away. My second born we decided something different and would have him completely naked from the waste down while he was awake and we had him potty on the big boy toilet whenever he needed to and he caught on right away, at night heād wears his big boy underwear and weāve been accident free for 2 weeks now.
@Lorriš± which method do you prefer now that youāve got experience with both and they both took the same amount of time for them?

@Lauren I felt like it was easier with my second born. He was so comfortable peeing on anything that would cover his penis that we decided to strip him from the waste down. It made him 100x more conscious of his bowl movements and he was so quick to run to the bathroom whenever he needed to go. I do keep an extra pair of clothes for him in the car just in case of accidents on the go but he hasnāt had any thankfully.
I did so closer to 3 years old. He mastered pee in two days tops. Poop it took like 2 weeks. Went from diapers to boxers since day 1 of training including at bed time. Once we said bye to diapers never went back. Didn't use pull ups

We started at 6 months using the elimination communication method. We didnāt stick to it too well because we were traveling a lot at the time so we had to begin it again around 12-14 months. I canāt remember exactly what age but she caught on within 3 days. I took her diaper off and every time Iād see her look like she needed to go or starting to go, Iād rush her to her potty and say āpottyā and do the sign for it. She caught on to the sign language very quickly too. Now at home (20 months) she just goes to her potty by herself. We got those little toddler potties so we can have one in each room and not expect her to hold it until I got her into a bathroom
