My friend has given birth twice at Kingston and she said they’re amazing. She had an emergency c-section first time, and a complicated VBac the second time, but she said both times the team were brilliant.
@Katalin I’m so sorry for you dear. If you feel comfortable to share details, please feel free. I’d love to hear your experience in order to protect myself from this system.
Ahhh that’s such a shame! I had such a wonderful experience at St Peter’s, A&E and maternity. I really hope you find the right fit for you 🩷
I gave birth twice at St Peter’s and it was both a horrible experience 😖 I wish I went else where the second time round
I am keen to know about this and where else to go too. Their last inspection they were rated inadequate and hearing these stories is making me think twice 😕
@M where is this rating please?☺️ The only report I can see from the cqc has rated the hospital as “good”
Ok now I’m not sure if it’s the most recent inspection!! It’s from March 2023. But I read about it here: https://www.ashfordstpeters.nhs.uk/latest-news/2871-cqc-publishes-report-on-maternity-services-at-st-peters-hospital
I switched my maternity care from St Peter’s to Royal Surrey - Royal Surrey were incredible. They are rated the best for maternity care in the UK. St Peter’s maternity care is rated ‘inadequate’. I also work for a perinatal mental health team across Surrey, I work with midwife’s from all Surrey hospitals - the best are (in this order) Royal Surrey, Frimley, Kingston. Avoid the rest x
@Amy I hope you don’t mind, I’ve messaged you as I have a couple questions!!
Hi, I am really sorry you feel that way. I was a patient at st Peter's during my pregnancy, had my baby there and had an amazing experience! Also, my son is a patient there and they have been nothing but amazing.
So it was 2.5 years ago now but I gave birth at St Peter’s and had a negative experience. felt like I was forgotten about and wasn’t taken seriously which impacted my birth and experience. However I have heard some positive stories too.
I did recommend Kingston hospital above but just wanted to say that I’ve had two good experiences at St Peter’s. First time was in the birthing suite during covid (2020) and second time was in the hospital as the birthing suite was shut (2023). But I’ve had very straight forward, uncomplicated pregnancies and births, so have never needed any extra/special care.
@Amy thank you for that Amy. I found their website and filled their self referral form. Hopefully they will accept me. It’s on their website that they are often declining as many women is deciding to change their hospital to them.. fingers crossed now
Had my first st.peters and second at Kingston. I would definitely recommend Kingston!x

@Victoria oh gosh, they must have only recently started doing that! Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼
I had my little one at St Peter’s back in January this year. They were nothing but incredible! Few concerns to me help so baby had to come sooner then planned, was kept in for two days due to reasons and back and forth for several weeks but the staff were amazing! X
Hi ladies, just a quick update: - no success with royal Surrey hospital. They are currently not accepting women outside their catchment area with due dates from November through April. - I decided to go to Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital, which is behind White City because it was rated as outstanding on their CQC and they did accept me as patient. My next appointment is om 26th! I know it might be far from us, but as I’ll have a elective cesarian, I think it’s worth driving 40 minutes over there (which my husband will do anyways)
I had planned c-section too at St Peter’s, let me tell you I have a trauma of operation and how they treated me shouted me . Worst experience ever , never again!
