Car seat tricks? Please help!!

My boy is 2. He's had phases before where he didn't love getting in his car seat, and times when he mastered getting in and putting on his own clip all that. Right now I'm going to absolutely loose it. we are going on a month of every single time he has to get in it's a mach 20 meltdown. I have to very forcibly restrain him to get him in and he screams so hard he starts to turn purple snot, hitting trying to scratch my face the whole 9. Any tips? I've tried encouraging and teaching him to get in on his own, if he actually will get in he ends up just trying to climb through the whole car. I've tried prepping him inside wherever we are leaving and then also just like making no big deal about it and swiftly set him in. It does not matter. as soon as I pass him through the door it's over........ Help 😳 I'm starting to loose my patience and have to take time out side the car to calm down so I don't loose it.

Could he possibly be uncomfortable due to incorrect fit? Not totally ideal but could try bring the car seat into the house and get him to “play” sitting into without being strapped in then show him being strapped in is fun and safe? Could also buy him a doll & car seat and show him how dolly likes to be in their seat and putting in car with him etc

Reach out to your local police or fire station to meet with a car seat specialist and make sure it's fitting him right. Honestly my son did the same thing right after 2yo and it was borderline break bones to force him in no matter what we did. I ended up deciding it was easier and better for everyone to turn him forward facing and it was an immediate fix for him

@Liv Sorry but a grizzling toddler having a paddy isn’t a reason to forward face, could have more than a ‘broken’ bone if ever in an accident. @Sarah could join a car seat safety groups on Facebook and post a photo of the child ask them for a fit check or even on here ( child face can easily be covered for safety purposes if needed )

@Kaylie all I'm saying is bruising my child repeatedly wasn't worth it. I recognize rear facing is safer but sometimes we have to make that call. He exceeded all requirements to forward face and we felt comfortable to do so

@Kaylie that- is a good idea! 🤓

@Kaylie good advice but also "a grizzling toddler having a paddy" 😆 I love it. Where are you from?? ❤️
