Pumped milk storage how are we doing this?

FTM he’s only 5 days old 🥹 I’m exclusive pumping, and I’m just a little confused I feel there is a more efficient way of storing my pumped milk but idk What I have been doing is using bottles basically popping em in the fridge Writing what time that was pumped. And kind of pouring in and out. Also the bottles im storing in he doesn’t like right now so they are solely for storage at the moment 🤷‍♀️ I have a pitcher but idk how to properly do the pitcher method as im afraid of bacteria, Calling all mommies help! Thank u

Buy milk storage bags - Philips, Medela you get those in box of 40/50. You basically just pump and store them in the bags and freeze them! If you’re using right away of course you just refrigerate! Pumped milk can be stored in fridge for 48hrs I think but can be frozen for up to 6months. Please don’t throw any milk! They’re like liquid gold. If milk is older than 6months you can actually use it in babies bath too it’s very beneficial!

I went through aeroflow got me a free pump and bags through insurance

@Neha no I’m asking like for the daily use not freezer storage, Like are you storing it in a pitcher all together? I have this weird bottle method so far just leaving it there in bottles pouring what I need and using oldest to newest. Sorry if that didn’t make sense! Thank u again for the tips

I did a weird range of bottles too until I started using the pitcher method. For awhile, I kept night and day milk separate but I saw no difference in her sleep so I gave that up after a couple months! It’s so much easier. After I pumped, I put the milk straight into the fridge to chill, and then when it came time for my next pump, I’d add the now cold milk into the pitcher (not an actual pitcher, a big bottle) so it was all the same temp when I combined it. Everything I pumped in a day was given the next day, so I had three pitchers (todays, tomorrows and a spare). Any milk not drank at the end of the day was bagged and frozen, wrote on it the day it was pumped. Depending on the temp of your fridge, your milk is fine there for 4-6 days so you don’t need to worry about bacteria if you’re using within that timeframe. Good luck ♥️

@Mia so do you pump extra than what baby is consuming? I think if baby is consuming and has extras you can first use that for the next feed and then give the fresh milk! I’ve never heard of pitcher method for storing milk. How would you know if the milk is old if you keep storing it in a pitcher ? My supply was quite low in the initial days and I started overproducing only after 3-4months (like my baby was drinking every 2-3hrs but my boobs would get full within that time so I would pump and freeze those instead of storing and use it at a time when I actually needed).

So storing in bottles isn’t ideal. Breast milk needs to be in a sealed container with no air flow. Pumping bottles usually come with a lid that makes it more sealed. I liked using milk storage bags, easier. Pumped milk is good outside fridge for 4 hours Inside fridge 4 days Freezer 6m-12m For the pitcher you have to add your milk all at the same temperature. So if you leave pitcher in the fridge, you can put your pumped bottle in the fridge and wait till the pumped bottle is same temp before combining. And you want to use the date from your first pour. ❤️ Hope this helps

I have 8 bottles that I use daily. I fill them up to the amount the baby is currently eating and put them in the fridge. I have extra collection cups. If I end up with too much milk and have already filled my bottles, I will put that milk in a breastmilk bag and freeze it. I try hard to make sure it’s at least 6oz,
