Pain in one breast

Hi all, I'll go to the breastfeeding support on Wednesday, but in the meantime... Is it possible that my LO (4 weeks) is suddenly not latching correctly only on one breast? In the last few days the nipple has hurt a lot when he latches and then for a while after the feed, sometimes also during. All good with the other one. It doesn't feel fuller or anything, so he's eating from it. Anybody experienced something similar?

My little girl latched badly one time and now I have a little wound on one nipple. It hurts every time I feed from that side even though the midwife and health visitor said her latch is perfect now. I can see it really clearly after a shower. It’s like a tiny hole that looks yellow when wet. It’s not infected, just an open sore that sadly isn’t healing as my girl is feeding so often 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t have any advice I’m afraid as I’m waiting to go to a breastfeeding group next week too.

Yes definitely possible, they tend to favour one side more than the other! You could try using the football hold on that side to try to trick then into thinking they're on the other boob. I can highly recommend using silver cups with a drop of breastmilk in to help heal sore nipples! They did wonders for mine when they were cracked and bleeding before we got my sons tongue tie released.

@Emily I’ve never heard of silver cups! I’ll order some now as I’m really struggling with the pain on one side. Thanks for the tip!

@Emily silver cups definitely helped at the beginning! I need to try using them again... I've never managed to make the football hold work for us 🙈

@Giorgia definitely worth another go if you are sore at the moment! They worked so much better for me than any of the creams did. Yeah the football hold can be a bit of an awkward one unfortunately! You could try nipple shields temporarily? Although my little one flat out refused those when I tried 😅
