@Kirsty amazing I’ll try this, thank you! ☺️
@Emma we also opted for the steps/seat thing for the big toilet she absolutely loved being a “big girl” like mummy and daddy🤣 the novelty of that worked a treat because she got excited to flush the poo away!🤣 x
We started potty training in August, absolutely smashed wees on the potty & toilet. However pooping is such a problem. He has done it a handful of times on the potty, and we celebrate, say bye bye to the poo but now he just does it in his nappy when he goes to bed! I wait outside his room and he is way to quick for me to go into his room and put him on the loo 🫣 So I have no advice but can only relate to what your going through
@Kate I had the same with my eldest but she was holding poo’s in altogether and we had to end up giving her medicine to help her go! I think he might be a bit constipated so I’m going to try some dates and prunes to help him, they will get there in the end! The phone or tablet on the potty helped with my eldest eventually it’s just my little boy runs off and does it so quickly I’m the same he’s to quick for me to put him on the potty! They will get there 🤦♀️ x
My son was exactly the same. I felt it would never end. It was a struggle for us both at the time! It did take about 3 months and I didn't have a clue what to do. Nothing was working. Eventually it took being out at a park and I hadn't got the travel potty with me (cos he'd do wees in bushes) and there was nothing nearby but a pub and he said he needed to poo. I didn't want the same going in the pants scenario again so whipped him in there and lifted him on the toilet. He was going crazy and we were both in tears but I had to hd it because it high up and because he was squirming I was kind of holding him down. Sounds dramatic but it was all done in the kindest way possible. His eyes lit up when the poo came out, he had been so scared of doing it and when he did and it was OK he was so relieved (in both senses 😆). He ran out of the pub shouting at everyone he saw that he had done a poo ❤️ And never did one in his pants again.
Just potty trained my daughter and it was so much easier. Potty training is tough. Hang in there you've got this mama x
My daughter is the same, been toilet trained for wees for a good couple months now, no accidents, dry nappies at nap and sometimes wakes for wees in the night. But poo’s absolutely no chance, she will only go in a nappy. I’m not rushing her or forcing her. We are just being open in the household about when we go for poo’s etc. she likes to flush her poo down the toilet and say “bye” so hopefully next step is the toilet. X
When we first done potty training, it got to the point she was holding in her poo and it made her poorly, had to get medicine from the doctors. It’s baby steps for them and mainly fear. X
We have struggled a lot with the poo’s. I potty trained her in July and it’s only really been the last couple of weeks that I have got her doing her poo’s on the potty, the only thing that’s helped is a reward chart and regular reminders that she needs to poo on the potty to get her star on her chart
when we started with our girl that was the last thing to come, the health visitor said it’ll just happen when she goes for a wee and it Will come naturally and to have a huge positive reaction to it! we always announced “oh mummy/daddy needs a poo I need to go to the toilet quickly, yay I did it” and within a couple weeks she was copying and we’ve had no accidents since!💛
