Toilet training

Hi all! My little one has started refusing nappies so we're off with the toilet training! I have so many questions... Those of you doing it, are you using a potty, a toilet cover, when you go out are you taking a travel potty or just using public toilets? What are you using in the car?! So many .. any tips welcome

I saw a hack online to line the car seat with a nappy to avoid Stains. We have a potty in the living room as at this age it can be an urgent situation 😂 we use public toilets when out (this has more become a game so she can see the toilets and doesn’t want to use them) with my eldest she had a lot of wild wees over drains and in bushes. Best this is to go with the flo, expect accidents and take a spare change of clothes if you are going completely nappyless :) whilst writing this my toddler let wind then had sheer panic on her face and ran to her potty 😂😂

@Michelle this made me chuckle! That all sounds good. We actually had 4 accidents this morning while nappy free, followed by getting upset about the potty so I put a nappy on! But he's had 2 wees in it so I think we'll go slow 😊

We have been going very slow, I introduced a potty about 6 months ago and kept putting her on it mid wee during nappyless times it’s only the last few weeks if she’s not in a nappy she announces she needs it and runs off on her own, but if she’s in a nappy she will just say wee wee and refuse to take her nappy off 😂 no accidents in the last 2 weeks though 🙌🏻 she did get upset with her potty a little while back when i tired to push the training so stepped back and just left it as an option until this time round and after a few days of accidents she just started going on her own x no pressure approach is the best way with my LG my eldest would just sit on the potty if you put her on it every half hour for a few mins and took to it a lot easier than youngest has :)

Yay to the 2 wees though 🙂 x

We’ve had the potty around for a while, when she started showing an interest in what we were doing when we went to the loo. At the moment we’re gently encouraging her to sit and try, lots of fuss and praise when she goes on the potty. Done quite a few wee’s here and there. She isn’t out of nappies yet though, I don’t think she’s quite there yet. With her brother, he was quite a bit later but we used to set timers for him to go and try/sit on the potty. Ditched the nappies completely other than for sleep within a few days. When out and about we used to keep a potty in the car for emergencies, and then just used public toilets. I have seen now you can get little fold out seats to sit on top of the toilet that I might get when LO is at that stage.

Thanks both! Little one started getting upset when offered the potty so we've taken a step back, but keeping it around x
