Make up / Foundation

I have my elective c-section on Wednesday and recently found out that you’re not meant to wear make up for the operation. I understand the reason is to monitor your complexion to check if anything is going wrong. I am not one who wears make up to be vain or to look flawless, but more to cover up rosacea which makes me feel very insecure. The thought of having all these life changing moments caught on camera with my natural skin flaring up is making me feel so uncomfortable. Did anyone manage to have their c-section with a light layer of foundation? It actually makes me want to cry that I’m going to feel so vulnerable and hate the photos/memories of the day.

I am going to wear a BB cream because I am uncomfortable not wearing anything xx

I had a full face of work makeup, gel nails and my wedding rings on. They didn’t care one bit, you are monitored in so many different ways. A light layer and some mascara is fine xx

I had a face of make up and wasn’t told I had to have none.

I had make up and eye lash extension.. no one said a single thing to me x

Heyy I didn’t because it was summer so had a tan and mascara.. but I just thought what about people who go into spontaneous labour who go in with full faces, after a day/night out and it end up in an emergency section.. I’m sure they not made to take it off.. I think you should be fine 🤍

I had to have an emergency c section and had a full face, I never knew you weren’t allowed/suppose to nothing was said to me xx

I wasn't asked if I was wearing make-up but they did check to see if I had polish on my fingernails and they put tape over my wedding ring 🤷🏼‍♀️ I also had to remove my nose piercing xx

They didn’t even ask about makeup with me, they just told me to remove my piercings x

I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and they definitely told me no make up. I questioned this with them and eventually they agreed I could have a ‘light layer’ They said the reason is because they can’t stick/secure things to make up. I didn’t even think ask what they need to stick to my face?? I’m just going to go in with make up and deal with it if they cause an issue with it. Thank you everyone!

I will add to this though no one told me beforehand I needed to remove nose piercings and earrings so when I was being prepped straight before going into theatre they were a little pissed which made me feel worse as I was already in shock and crying because I never ever wanted a c section and was angry with the world because I wasn’t even able to try and push xx
