What have the midwives advised?

@Sophie I’m doing combination feeds but more on breastmilk

@Sophie they said mostly breastmilk but I am worried as she has lost weight only 1 week old

My son went from 13 percentile to 95 percentile in 8 weeks just on breastmilk. So it is possible just on breastmilk if that's your preference, of course supplement with formula if you want or need to. I would follow my babys cue for feeding and did nothing special. Also don't worry about the weight loss in the first week, I think it's fine as long as it's not more than 10% and they are back to birth weight in 14 days. Your midwife should be able to guide you with that.

Forgot to mention my son did drink a LOT so that meant hydrating myself regularly and eating a lot. I think I was eating more than what I was eating in my third trimester. Also took over the counter post Natal vitamins to ensure I'm not lacking in any.

@Akansha yeah I’m trying to get her to have the breastmilk as much as possible whatever is good for her weight gain.

@Akansha I just hope she gains weight she’s over a week old lol 🎀

@Akansha I am doing breast milk as much as I can. But she’s having a lot of the formula as well.

It’s normal for babies to lose weight at first, the key thing is to get her weighed regularly and make sure that she puts the weight back on. I would reach out for breastfeeding support as if baby’s latch is ok then they shouldn’t need formula in order to gain weight 😊
