Breastfeeding

My baby currently is getting his first teeth and the other day he bit me so hard I bled. Anything I can do to prevent that or stop it from becoming a habit?

All I can say is teething stuff he can bite on my little one try’s biting me when he has nothing in his hands to bite on to

@Emma I meant during feedings he bit my nipple so hard I bled. Usually I have cold stuff and teethers all around for him but during feedings he's been biting me

Oh gosh... that sounds painful, can you pump your breast milk and give him bottles?

If my little one bit me I’d just take him straight off and put him down, he then realised if he did it he wouldn’t get milk and stopped, he does it rarely now!

What Tamsin said - take him off and say a gentle but firm "no biting" and give him a teething toy or something instead to redirect him

Just went thru this with my son! It’s so hard to do but I had little to no reaction and would just gently stick my finger in between his jaw to unclamp and slowly bring him back. It worked really well and he doesn’t bite anymore. The biting lasted 4-5 days

@Tamsin exactly what I did

I take off my son if he bites, say a form no and offer him a teether instead. I do put him back sometimes in a minute if he looks like he wants more, usually switching the boob as I feel he bites when he's almost done and trying to get the last bits of milk and gets overenthusiastic or is done anyway and wants to play
