Breastfeeding is great, pumping is not. Tips?

Does anybody have tips for pumping? My baby has been EBF for 5 months and absolutely refused a bottle. He’s recently started to take a bottle so I want to pump instead of use formula but I can’t get anything out when I pump? I’ve tried a manual and electric, nothing happens. My baby is on the 99th centile and happy and sleeps well after feeds and wees for Britain so I know I have the milk but it just won’t come out when pumping? Any tips please x

I was lucky with my electric pump but I have a friend who had to try a few 😬 before she found one that works. Which are you using? Manual didn't work for me at all I hated it! Preferred the hakka to a manual pump x

And I find that pumping on the opposite boob while I feed works best and usually in a morning, I don't get too much by the evening x

Check if you're using the right flange size for your nipple, that can make a huge difference

@Isabelle I’ll have to try in the morning! I’ve been trying once he’s gone to bed for the next day. I’ve got a lansinoh wall one and a medela hand manual pump x

I pump in the opposite boob while she feeds on the other! I’ve been getting between 2-4oz at a time then just put it in a bottle in the fridge and too it up through the day x

I was getting like 10-15ml in 25 minutes then realised the flange was too big. Got a smaller one and now I can get 4oz in 20mins. I’ve got Momcozy wearable pump

Check the correct flange size and try it first thing in the morning when you wake up. Remember that the regular portion to pump is about 2oz so don't worry if it does not seem much

I never got on with pumping, but I read that putting baby socks over the the bottle bit to hide how much milk is being pumped helps as you’re not obsessively checking! I prefer a manual or haakaa if I desperately need to pump, but I’m too lazy 😅
