Do you want to stay in the uk? @Hollie
@Sophie yeah my toddlers the exact same so it might be pointless 😂
@Emma open to anywhere :)
I’m hanging on for when he sleeps a little bit better and we’d be able to leave him with my mum while we go on a city break as a couple!
We did Prague for her 1st birthday and it was a big hit. I would say south Europe is way more kid friendly. I would stay away from Portugal as it's often hills and you don't wanna be pushing pushchair up and down Porto/Lisbon. People have kids in all cities,.so just don't over plan massive sightseeing and incorporate parks and play areas and every city is doable
Vienna is great with a baby/toddler especially for the Christmas markets. Very accessible and walkable, good public transport with lifts, tons of things to do and see, restaurants are child friendly, all the Christmas lights are great. Berlin is also great with a toddler. Berlin zoo is like €15 and has pandas! Great walking tours, very flat and modern transport network. Kids museums and things to do. Avoid Italy and Portugal due to cobbles and hills if you are using prams.
I live in Amsterdam and it’s great for toddlers! Lots of nice parks, zoo, interactive museums!
We're off to Lille in a couple of weeks for the christmas lights and markets. Only 90 mins on the eurostar, everything within walking distance in the city, plus neither me or my partner have been before so we're hoping we'll enjoy it too. Otherwise, I'm usually in Sophie's camp of thinking! I've also heard great things about Amsterdam
We went to Rome a couple of weeks ago and was really stressful and not at all toddler friendly so definitely not Rome 😂
I’ve been going to Nice in the south of France since I was 16, every year (usually more) and it’s amazing for children and toddlers. The tram is world class and so easy to get around. The city isn’t too big and has lots and lots of green spaces/parks/playgrounds. They love children and are happy to accommodate you. Lots of shopping centres (always have play areas) for when it rains. Amazing Christmas market and lights every year. Great atmosphere all year round so can go any time and weather is always mild. If you like the sound of Nice, feel free to send me a DM as I have so many places I can share with you that a lot of tourists wouldn’t know about. In the UK, York is great. I’d definitely live there if I wasn’t in Brighton (Brighton’s a pretty good city break with kids too!) Loads of parks and things to do for the little ones. I’d say Porto/Libson isn’t as just steep and hard to get around. Most “older” cities (Rome) are difficult with cobbled streets etc.
@Andria where would you reccomend staying in Amsterdam? Also would you have a list of places you’d reccomend thank you so much
Thanks everyone I’ll take a look at the suggestions! X
@Andria i did Amsterdam in September alone with my toddler and it was really good. My girl loved the Carousel for pancakes 🥞🍫🍓

@Hollie the Niu Fender. Really nice hotel with breakfast just 10 mins out of the city but connected by amazing buses and trams. The buses went straight to central and the trams went to the museums. You just tap in and out like here (or you can buy a card from centraal for the whole system) and can ride them all day and they are pram friendly. Super cheap and reliable transport, the Citymapper app is great over there xx
Not us but our best friends did Barcelona last month with their 18 month old and she loved it! They said it was very child friendly and lots to do and see. Not far to travel to which is also good xx
@Hollie Amsterdam is quite small so as long as you stay somewhere that is on a tram line or metro you will be fine! You can also rent a bike with a bike seat, bike lanes are everywhere and my little girl loves being on the back of my bike. I would probably stay somewhere on the east side or south (de pijp is quite trendy). So many activities to do, I’ll just list some toddler specific ones. - Vondel Park - Beatrix Park - Artis Zoo - Nemo Science Museum - Maritime Museum -Fabrique de Lumieres (interactive museum) - city farm (small but free and super fun) https://www.kinderboerderijdepijp.nl -Club Abby - maybe for a rainy day Hope this helps!
We took my little one to Barcelona in September and it was great ☺️
It really depends on your toddler, and what you want to get out of the city break. For me, none of the things that I’d normally enjoy about a city break would be enjoyable if I tried to take my toddler with me. He’s at the age where he doesn’t want to sit in the pushchair being taken around museums etc and he doesn’t want to sit in a high chair for long in cafes or restaurants either. The only way I can imagine a city break being toddler-friendly is if you take them swimming, and to soft play, etc, and if you do that then to me you’ve spent a lot of money to do things you could have done at home, so I can’t see the point. HOWEVER, I remain curious and open to suggestions, because I really miss going away, so I’ll watch replies with interest 😊
