How much are your newborns eating?

Im a FTM and my baby will be 3 weeks old in 2 days. the pediatrician recommended i offer her 2oz of formula at each feeding. She's still acting hungry sometimes after she eats but every thing I've read said babies this young shouldn't be eating 3-4oz. Should I just offer more anyways? She has consistent wet and dirty diapers.

mines 2 weeks old nd eats almost 3 ounces nd has been fine

My daughter is a month old and can eat 2-4 oz a feeding it’s normal as they get bigger to eat more. Unless they are throwing and spitting up the milk you are fine ❤️

My baby is 3 weeks and 5 days. I don’t do formula. But I just started pumping to share feeds with my husband. I’ll pump 2oz in 30min and so far my baby hasn’t fussed as if he’s hungry the few times we’ve offered it to him. As long as she seems content, not asking for more, and doesn’t seem to be losing weight I’d imagine she’s OK! I try to take the recommendations and norms just as that, recommendations and let my baby be the guide from there.

My baby is 10 days old and she eats anywhere from .5oz to 2oz in a feeding, if its on the smaller side she eats more often

My baby is 3 weeks and drinks 3-4 oz

Mine is 1 month old and takes 2 oz and is fine and chunky, and she is only breastfed through a bottle.

the average for 3-4 weeks is 2-3oz still, I just asked my lactation consultant a couple days ago to be sure myself, bc on occasion we will give him a bottle of pumped milk. however, the keyword there is average; if your baby still seems hungry, feed her til she is content. And just watch signs for a happy spitter or an uncomfortable spitter i.e. digestive issues, gerd etc. Every baby is different! If she's eating 4 oz and is content and not extremely fussy afterwards for long periods of time than I think you are doing the right thing mama!

My baby is 3 weeks and has 2-3 ounces typically, sometimes 4 on occasion. I asked my Peds if I’m over feeding and she said no.

From what I collect when nursing on the other sides and such I can estimate my nearly 3 week old is eating 3 oz every 2.5-3 hours around the clock. Today he nursed every house from 10-1. We ebf but I pump one breast each feeding so I have an idea of what is being eaten/ produced.

Yall are lucky…my 1 week old eats 3-4 oz every 3 hours😭 it’s hard to keep up haha

My 2 weeks 5 days old son is eating 3-6 ounces

My 4 week old has been taking 4-5.5oz reliably all week, and 3.5-4 the week prior with a random 6.5oz. I’d see about adding 0.5oz to what you start feeding with (so 2.5oz total) and topping up with another 0.5-1oz if she still seems hungry

@Laina me too! My one week old cleans 3oz no spit up, it is so hard to keep up can not at all miss a pumping session😅

My son will be 3 weeks in 2 days also and he eats 3oz every 3 hours give or take but sometimes an hour later he will want another oz and then seems content so it varies.

My baby is almost three weeks old and drinks 4oz a feeding!
