Breathe and stay positive which is so much easier said than done. However as above, the staff is amazing and will make you feel so at ease. I started panicking just before the process and the staff was amazing and managed to calm me so much that I didn't know what was going on and suddenly one of them asked me if I would ever have guessed that they were already 10 minutes into the procedure and the next moment they showed me the baby. Put all your faith in the staff. They're so calm and professional and you'll be in the best hands! They came to see me several times during the day before the c-section and made sure I was fully aware of everything that would happen. You've absolutely got this xxx
I had a horrible anxiety right before my last C-section one but they gave me some versed in my IV and I was happy as a clam for my C-section. Wasn't tripping just very calm and good with the whole thing.
Honestly it is the most amazing experience- as above: trust the staff completely and if you feel any anxiety just tell them, as they are trained to calm you and make you feel comfortable 😉 Get a playlist of your fave tunes on and just think about your baby xxx excited for you!
I had a failed induction and was in so much pain (2 failed epidurals also). They asked me if I wanted to push through the pain or have a c section (which later turned out to be an emergency due to my placenta detaching). I immediately said c section. The surgerical staff were so lovely and supportive. I got a spinal, which worked, and within minutes, I couldn't feel any pain at all which was such a relief as I had been contracting from 1pm the day before and the pain gradually got worse overnight which meant i didnt sleep, 6am the next morning we were in hospital. By 3.30pm i said i couldn't do it anymore. I was taken to surgery and once the spinal was placed 5 minutes later my bub was here. I had exactly the same fear, which is why I didn't go ahead with a c section to begin with (big baby 4.4kg). If I were to do it again, I'd opt for a c section straight away.
Im having my c-section tomorrow aswell. Both me and my partner work in surgery ( foot surgeons), my mum is a scrub nurse and his mum a retired gynecologist. My mum works with my consultant aswell.. i feel the most stressed for my consultant knowing is a lot of pressure in him. I am not very very anxious about it however it gives me some anxiety knowing that anything could go wrong. But mama be strong !! We will make it !! ❤️
I had horrible anxiety too because I was so worried about dying but you won't die, don't worry. They know what they're doing 💖 It'll be over before you know it! If you're really worried they can give you something to calm your nerves. My tip is to request a cold facecloth as this really helped calm me. Just know that your baby will be in your arms in 10 minutes and you'll wonder why you were worried in the first place! 🥰 Sending lots of love! 💕
Hey mama, I just had my 2nd c section 2 weeks ago and it’s a painless experience when done correctly. Make sure when your anesthesiologist ask you if you can feel anything make sure you are honest and let him/her know if you can or can’t. Also, pray if you’re religious before going in. Trust and believe it is a fast procedure before you can even blink you’ll be hearing your little ones first cry. Wish you the best mama! You got this!!!
I was so worrried about the same thing but honestly, it was a very quick procedure and all the staff were so kind and supportive. You can request to play your own music in the theatre, this really helped me to stay calm and focus on my breathing. It’s such a quick process and within 10 minutes, you’ll have your beautiful baby. I was so scared but would now have another, if that helps. Good luck and almost welcome to motherhood! Xx
Usually the team do an amazing job of putting you at ease- my anaesthetist is still one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life and made the whole process so easy! C sections are one of the most common procedures, I think most doctors could more or less do it with their eyes closed (they won’t I promise!) and it is such a small amount of time before baby gets given to you and you don’t even notice the rest because you’ve got your lovely baby to hold! I had such anxiety before mine and I wish I hadn’t!!
How did you get on? ❤️
No tips here as mine was due to a failed induction (not an emergency) but honestly it was the most positive part about those 3 days. Going in I was a nervous wreck but they topped up my epidural and within such a short amount of time he was here...they make you feel so at ease and you've got people by your head talking to you constantly...my anaesthetist was at my head making jokes and telling me what happening. You've got this ❤️
