Maryline at bodywise in the Buddhist centre in town does fantastic mum and baby yoga sessions, 100% recommend
@Sophia ah, great! Thank you! I can see that this can be done without having to buy a load of classes in advance which is exactly what I'm looking for xx
Yeah Maryline is super accommodating, she has a heart of gold. Devo'd when my daughter got too old for those classes haha! Such a great little community we found there Xx
We did the 6 free baby massage sessions at our local sure start centre too, worthwhile x
Dance like a mother classes are great too, you don't have to block book loads and I think they do a free first session
Look at your local sure start centre, activities are free and often you don’t need to book. You can also attend other sure start centres in Manchester. I know one in wythenshaw has baby yoga on Mondays - check the Facebook pages as they don’t often update the official websites
South Manchester is definitely loaded with great classes and baby groups, don’t worry! As your baby gets a bit older there are more and more things that will be fun to attend Here is a pay per session baby massage (it does book up but there are spaces) www.forbabyandmemanchester.co.uk Claire does park work out classes too which are great and really friendly. This isn’t what you asked for but some other great drop in baby sessions in South Manchester are Little Werbs playgroup at St Werbergs Church in Chorlton - Tuesdays Didsbury Library Storytime - Thursdays Owen’s Little Music Makers, a lovely violin nursery rhyme class in Chorlton - Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Thank you! I'm not impressed what's at my Sure Start Centre and what I'm actually interested in is already fully booked, hence, I'm asking here and I don't mind paying for them. The sensory classes I've seen seem very overstimulating for such a small baby. Seems a lot of websites are also not updated and classes have moved or are not happening anymore.
Artventures for bigger -you can buy a block or a single sessions, music classes at Band on the wall- you can buy single and I have seen tiny babies there. We went for many sensory sessions at the art gallery (people tend to come in groups)and story time at library,(you can get mixed age) both are free and no need to prebook.i also didn't like SureStart. We have also started swimming at 12 weeks. Just note that any class for 6 week old will be VERY overwhelming. I wish someone told me that because I was keen too. I know it's good to get out of the house that early but at that stage is all about you and your recovery rather than the baby. Its about making connections with others during the class and it cam be hard.. I think babies properly start enjoying these classes at around 6 months+ when they start to sit unassisted and play with toys.i hope it makes sense!
@Magda thank you for this! Yes, I'm not looking at sensory classes or anything like that for him just yet. He's a very chilled baby and I can bring him anywhere but the sensory classes look very overstimulating and overwhelming. That's why I'm looking at something calmer like yoga or massage. I've seen some pram exercises as well which could be quite good and they're outdoors!
Hi, ask your health visitor she can book you in for 6 free sessions for baby massage xxx
