Baby won't poo

Anyone else's baby really struggle to poop? This last week my little girl only poops once in 24 hours and she's in so much pain trying to get it out! We try our best to help her but any tips would be appreciated. She was on breast milk (pumping and bottle feeding) but I found it really hard and gave it up so she's on kendermil formula, she's always been combi fed so always had a little formula but now that's all she's on, she is 5 weeks old. TIA

It may be the change from the breast feeding to the formula, sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for their belly’s too adjust to it. Get some lactulose, you can use 5ml of this from birth and it helps to soften the stools, and then to get his bowls moving do some light belly massages, bicycle legs, warm baths and some tummy time xxx

The advice above repeats what I was going to say but also try a couple of bottles using pre-made formula as I was told it helps them poop too - try and use the same brand as the powdered version

Same here but baby is EBF

Her system is probably getting used to just being in formula now. Should regulate itself. My baby is combine fed and he poos about every 5 days!

BM is a natural laxative so it's probably just the digestive system adjusting to being fully formula now x

@Els ahh thank you so much I'll check the date I have for the lactolose! Thank you thank you! Xxx

@Misha ahhhh what a good idea I'll pop and get some today!! Xxx

Thank you so much everyone! It's so hard seeing them in discomfort!!! Xxxx

Once every day isn't unusual but being in pain isn't ideal. It's likely down to the switch to 100% formula and will hopefully settle down soon.

My little girl has constipation is on cow and gate number 1 formula took her gp and they prescribed cosmocol sachets I give her 1 sachet a day half a sachet 12 hours apart mixed 30ml water given via syringe and she poo’s every day sometimes 2 times a day!! Maybe try asking gp for the medicine it might work for your baby too !!
