Best nipple butter/balm?

I’m trying to figure out the best nipple butter/balm to use when breastfeeding my baby in January. The reviews online are very confusing—lanolin or lanolin free, no perfumes/scents, etc. I’m so lost 😞 help!! What worked for you and your baby? I’m also planning on going back to work after maternity leave so will be bringing my Momcozy mobile breast pump etc with me, idk if that is important or not… 🤷‍♀️

I used lanolin and it was a life saver!! I experienced cracking/bleeding of my nipple and if I didn't have it... I don't think I could have breastfed lol

@Angela what’s the difference between lanolin and not having it? I’ve read mixed reviews. Some say that it stains and is hard for NB to latch, and there’s so many lanolin type products out there

@Alexandria I used it with breast pads and haven't had issues with staining! I also didn't have any issues with him latching from it :) The lanolin provided a moisture barrier and allowed my nipple to heal in between feedings. I left it and was hoping it would heal on its own and it just got worse. It was incredibly painful.

I use lanolin only when my nipples are super dry and cracked, otherwise I use earth mama nipple butter.

@Alexandria you can be allergic to lanolin is the main thing! Best to keep as natural as possible imo.

@Lottie can I have an allergy to it? Or the baby? And does it go away?

@Alexandria you. Your nipples wouldn’t heal using it if you were allergic. Personally I just steered clear of lanolin based ones to not risk it. I found the silver nipple cups the best for the sore nipple stage at the beginning!
