How many bottles & oz per day?

Appreciate the back of a tin is a guideline but Kendamil suggests dropping to 4 bottles a day at 6 months but upping the oz (210ml) & at 7 months 210ml x 3 x a day. My baby is almost 7 months & currently has 5 bottles at 180ml but now we’re weaning doesn’t drink the full bottles (2/5 feeds) I’m wondering if it would be better to drop a bottle and up the ml? What are you feeding your baby and how often?

I just googled what NHS says and they say 7 months a guide is 600ml a day … I’ve been freaking out she’s not been finishing her bottles and not eating much but it’s probably because I’m trying to feed her too much milk and still give her breakfast and lunch 🙈

Mine wasn’t finishing her bottles and I dropped a bottle and upped amount and it’s much better. You can only try.

My LO is nearly 8 months and still has 5 bottles a day, 6 ounces. He sometimes misses a morning bottle but still has the others. I am weaning and he doesn’t always finish what I’m feeding him. Not sure if I’m over feeding him now 🙈

@Charlie I really don’t think you can over feed a baby personally. My baby was born on the 9th centile so will never drink what other baby’s drink. It just seems a waste making big bottles if she’s not drinking them so I might try dropping a bottle and upping the oz x

@Charlotte did you just spread the time out between bottles? Thanks x

Yep. So she used to be 5 bottles every 3 hours. Now she is 4 bottles every 4 hours x

@Charlotte thank you I’m going to give it a try, we did it when she used to have 6 bottles and dropped to 5 but upped the oz and she smashed it x

My baby was fussing so much when on 5 bottles and it’s like her appetite completely changed when we dropped a bottle x

Mines 6oz every 3hrs. Sometimes she may have a 7. Sometimes a 5.

I am having the same issue. Normally has 5 bottles of 180 but is now doing really well with weaning and not so interested in milk. I’m going to try dropping a bottle tomorrow too

Silly Q but how do you drop a bottle?? I know you’d up the Oz so is bottle 1 larger & then longer between bottles? My girl won’t drink over 5oz for her first.

@Hayley that’s where I’m going to struggle, my girl has zero appetite when she wakes up in the morning. Takes her a while to finish 180, so I’m just going to have to see how it goes. I suppose I could do a smaller one in the morning and then up them as the day goes on at first. It’s that morning one that’s going to throw it all off

@JVH same! She’s a 5oz first - she may have a 7 bottle 3-4 but often bottle 2 she won’t have more than 6!

I would just feed the normal amount in the morning. Then add an extra hour before the next feeding and up that one.

@Charlotte you’d think she was being placed in a cage with a lion when she wants her bottle dead on 3hrs 🦁

@Hayley oh so she don’t let you

@Charlotte madam 😋

Sometimes 4, sometimes 5. Anywhere between 24-32oz x

@Hayley can you maybe delay each bottle by 10mins?

Mine has 6× 5oz bottles but mines breast milk so it's a little different. She doesn't always drink it all, sometimes she has 3oz. We are still on one meal a day as we started weaning late because she had a cold and I didn't want her first time eating food to start when she felt terrible

@Charlotte yep - that’s defo doable 👍🏼

Cow and gate 150mls every 2 hours .

I found it easy to transition baby from 6 bottles to 5 bigger bottles she took to it straight away and drank all the oz. Last few weeks since starting weaning she isn’t finishing barely any of her bottles so hoping the transition to 4 but upping the oz will work as well as it did last time. She’s having way over the 600ml NHS recommends for 7-9 months so I’m not concerned. I can only try! The “issue” with my baby is … she does not cry 😂 she’d probably wait all day for a bottle and not fuss, I’ve just always fed her every 3 hours, last time was easier because I dropped her last bottle as she wasn’t needing it - I was basically waking her at 10pm for a feed when she’d sleep through. This is a little different x

my boy naturally dropped a bottle but now has 8oz around 4 am and doesn’t want any milk until his mid morning/ lunchtime bottle but will eat actual breakfast like yogurt and fruit. he ends up on around 35-37oz of milk and 2 meals + snacks. I expected him to take less milk since weaning but we’ve actually gone up 5oz ish🤔

3X 210ml per day plus 3 mini meals 7am bottle 8:30am porridge and yoghurt 11:30am lunch and yoghurt 3:30pm tea and yoghurt 7pm bottle and bed 7:30pm 2-4am bottle Xx

@Lottie we seem to drink more milk now too, and we're on 3 small meals a day! Strange isn't it! 4 bottles a day now, but 8oz each time 😆

@Charlotte she’s just finished almost a 7oz - so won’t act on impulse and make the next til she wants it 🍼

@Hayley good shout. I’m glad she did more today. Yay!

@Charlotte so so glad I read this message. Thank you! Dropping a bottle and upping the amount has been a game changer. She’s eating so much more and actually enjoying milk again

@JVH that’s fabulous news! Much less stress for you. Well done mama x
