C-section blood loss

I had a c section 3 days ago and in the surgery i lost a litre of blood my iron levals are very low they have said but still sent me home not even 24 hours later . I’m as white as a ghost , dizzy and lightheaded and I keep getting heart pulpatations and chest pain apprently it is normal with the low iron but also can be dangerous I’ve been checked over with blood pressure etc , anyone else go through this ? And when did it stop ? My midwife thinks a lot of it is anxiety and me otherthinkjng it .

Did they give your iron supplements to go home with? They did for me. But I’d get your symptoms checked out as these can be caused by infection/blood clot etc. other things that are common after c section and not just iron. 1 litre is considered ‘normal’ blood loss for a c section

@Becca hello yes I have been sent home with them , and I got checked by midwife and hospital at my baby’s too to toe check and the only think that’s abit high is my blood pressure but their not concerned about how high it is , it’s just the palpatations and the chest pain that scares me they said it can be a side effect of the iron being low

I was anaemic during my pregnancy and I lost 1.8 litres of blood during my emergency c section 6 months ago. I was put on iron tablets but unfortunately all forms of iron tablets give me extreme dirrhea to the point I cannot leave the house so I have had to just go with a iron rich diet which is extremely hard. My levels aren’t low enough to have a transfusion apparently but I am really pushing for one as I am very pale on my face, dizzy and lethargic. It’s honestly awful.

Make sure you take your iron tablets with a drink of orange juice it helps your body absorb it. And don't drink tea or coffee with meals as this reduces the absorption. Ask your GP for a blood test in 3 months or sooner if you feel its necessary to check if your iron levels have gone up x

Iron deficiency is really common for women postpartum. Take the iron first thing when you wake, with Vitamin C tablet to aid absorption, and don’t eat or drink caffeine for an hour. Caffeine and certain foods (dairy, oats etc) also block absorption of the iron.
