Is anyone refusing induction?

I pushed passed induction for section but haven't fully declined intervention and 100% wouldn't for our personal circumstances.

I am at the minute, willing to take the risks of delivering a big baby. Family history on both sides have lots of big babies with healthy deliveries - the NHS are pushing medical labours sadly due to being sued so much but as it stands I’d rather take the risks of delivering a big baby rather than the risks that come with induction. Obviously if things change I might change my mind, but at the minute I have refused early planned induction x

I also think it entirely depends on the reason they're suggesting an induction?!

First time mum but I do not want it. From what I keep hearing is that the level of pain is 100% worse, also with the drip they supposed to start with lower dose however they don’t always listen to you. The medicine can also have an effect on the baby’s heart rate which will lead to emergency c section, this happened to my friend. The pain is also back to back so you have no time to rest therefore you are most likely to get epidural. Saying this if it is necessary then I will not mind to be induced cuz my health and baby’s live comes first.

I had 3 normal non intervention deliveries, but my 4th they wanted to induce me to control delivery of placenta after my 3rd came super quick and midwife missed I had retained products (I was fine though) but my induction consisted of just my waters being broken. I have said this time I will only have induction if that’s all it will take I don’t want anything else

@Steph there are many, but mainly increased pain, longer stay in hospital for monitoring, increased chance of further medical intervention (I.e forceps & vacuum delivery). If inductions fail they usually try push for c section too.

I had an induction and I like the fact that it was planned,but don't wait to have the epidural. Get it right away if they put you on a pump. The pain is not even on the pain scale.

@Steph no probs it’s well worth reading up about! Obviously I’m open to it if my particular situation changes but it’s always worth asking if there are any alternatives or even just an option to wait abit longer to make a decision 😊 x

I had a baby 2 years ago and pregnant again now. My waters broke but nothing happened within 24 hours so I was advised an induction to reduce risk of infection. I had the hormone drip and the above suggested was right in my case - it was a lengthy 72 hour labour, heart rate of baby kept dropping, the pain ramped up quickly once the hormone trip was put in, resulting eventually forceps and next was c section

My baby 2 years ago was an induction after waters broke and contractions didn’t pick up. I had the drip. Was very long and painful ( I laboured in my back) they did try push for a c-section when it wasn’t working as fast as they wanted it to but I declined. So he came naturally but want to avoid it this time round if possible x

I had the pessery and baby didn’t like it so had it removed and ended up having an emergency c section. I don’t regret my choices and think all the midwife’s and drs have been amazing.

I had an induction with my first I was in labour for such a short time and was home the next morning! Not every induction story is a horror one there are positives to having an induction too☺️ x

I was induced with my first and had a positive experience! I’m actually pushing for another one this time round so don’t let other people’s horror stories scare you off x
