Talking

14 month old only says mum and can sign more but won’t say anything else and doesn’t really babble should I be worried?

I don’t think I’d be worried just yet. I think they don’t normally start to worry until a baby is at least 18 months old and still not saying anything. Is he or she meeting other milestones? Looks in your direction when you say their name? Follow simple commands, etc?? If it makes you feel better though my brother didn’t talk at all by 18 months and my mom did early intervention with him and he’s currently in nursing school and there’s nothing wrong with him at all. I would say discuss with pediatrician by 18 months if still not saying anything!

Also I think they only require a baby to say around 3 words by 15 months. I could be wrong but I think that’s what it is. Animal sounds and trying to say words counts!

My 14 month old is exactly the same. He is definitely saying Dada a lot more than mama at the moment. He is hitting all milestones and understands some easy sentences. The other babies in his parents group are the same too.
