I’d vote hands over dummy I read it’s fairly normal mine has only just started playing with his wrist /sleeve and it’s only hunger 9/10 lolll
My little boy like to lick his hand and chew them before falling sleep. After he’s been fed . He doesn’t like dummy , so I think that’s his way of comforting himself
Until mine is able to pick back up the dummy, I’m letting her do thumb sucking and then we will see what she will prefer later on in life. I find it amazing that she’s doing it as she can finally put herself to sleep once she’s drowsy, no need to fall asleep on us and then transfer
From an orthodontic point of view, if they suck on fingers when older it can lead to the need for braces, having a dummy does the same thing buuuuutttt you can give up a dummy, but it is so much harder for a child to stop sucking fingers/ thumb. Now all that said, I don’t think it matters at this age, he is learning new things and that’s often with their mouths. So do whatever is best and easiest for you. Xx
