Oh same hun, my boy can say lights, meow, woof, car, wobble, more, he can count to two, but he doesn't say mamma or babi 🤷🏻 haha Im not too bothered as I know he will say it at some point. My theory is that he knows he can just put his arms out to us and we grab him so he feels he doesn't need to say it yet. Dont worry, your bub will say it soon 🤗
My eldest boy, now 5 was exactly the same. I know how it makes your heart feel. However, believe me once they say mama/mummy for the first time and your heart bursts with joy... It never stops 🤣 my youngest 14m is exactly the same however I feel a little more patient this time round in waiting
It's normal! My 2 year old says Bobbie... Not because it's my name but because her ms are Bs 😂😂 and yes my husband finds it hysterical she's walking round the house shouting Bobbie 😂 but she also didn't start this until after she was 2 despite saying dad at 9m 😂
Mine still doesn’t say mama
@Bobbie Wilson haha I love this! At least it’s your name! 😂 my boy uses bs for his ds so his dad is bab! I love it so much I now call him bab too so he’ll probably be bab forever 🙈
My son also can't say mama ! Xx
@Misha we have the opposite so bye bye is die die to everyone !!
My son can say it but never does because I’m always there lol he says Daddy as soon as he wakes up
Mine is saying over 30 words now… except Mama 🥲
I think it’s normal but there are things that can help (which I’m sure you’re doing) like referring to yourself only as mama , talking about your self in third person, pressing your lips on their check saying mama and just having them watch you say mama or model the M sound. For me (son is also 14 months) his first word was mama around 7 months and used it regularly. I temporarily went back to work to leave my job from 10-11 months. He hasn’t said mama since I’ve been home. He used to call for me and now bc I’m home he doesn’t. He’s added words and signs in sign language but it’s like he stopped making the M sound. Like you I also worry about but there are language regressions as they learn new skills and have developmental leaps. I also am trying just to say mama which is easier for them sometimes I say mommy.
