Baby’s position

My midwife has said baby is head down but I feel all movement quite low, near my belly button. Is this normal? Surely if baby was head down I would feel kicks near my ribs? It’s worrying me a bit as I am coming up to 36 weeks..

Not sure if this helps or not but I was feeling kicks in my ribs and hiccups in my side about a week ago but now hiccups in my hip and the odd kick around my belly button. I feel a little bruised in my pelvis when I've been sitting for a while which is new and where there was only one finger space there is now about three finger spaces between my ribs and baby's bum so we've definitely dropped in this last week and haven't come back up for a few days. I'm only just 36 weeks

My baby has been head down since 28 weeks . And I feel all the movements down there and my sides x sometimes I do feel her kick my ribs especially if I’m sitting and slouching but when I lie down it’s always movement under the belly button .

Midwife has been saying mine is head down for a couple of weeks but majority of movement I’m still feeling quite centrally (until they stretch, then I get some rib sensation!) Because their back is to my belly, the kicks are more ‘inward’ and movement tends to be baby moving their bum and back - a bit like rolls and swooshes - instead of actual kicks. Not sure if that helps but at this stage the movement has deffo changed!

I think that’s quite normal because at this stage they’ll be a bit squished up in there, so likely bum is toward the top of your bump and legs curled round / tucked up back toward your belly button. Also, hands & elbows will be belly button area downward, so movement will also be that, not just kicks. x

My baby is head down and my belly button is where I feel him most, possibly his arms? X
