Periods after breastfeeding

My son is 22 months old and I haven’t had a period since he was born. I am on birth control and had heard that breastfeeding can stop periods, I cut down breastfeeding to just nights a couple of months ago and a couple of weeks ago I had cramping and spotting but never came on my period properly, then a couple of weeks later I have the same again. No full period just some spotting and discomfort. For those of you whose periods stopped after breastfeeding, when did they come back properly? Did you too have light spotting for a while before they returned? I’m not sure if I should see a doctor or if this is totally normal? Thanks

My son is also 22 months now . I got my first period after 14 months of pp . My first 3-4 periods were very light (but more than spotting ) , maximum 3 days long and cramps plus pain . Now I have normal period , less cramps more flow . I am still breastfeeding. I would suggest to do some exercise and hot water bath . Helps to get period fast .

Mine came back 21 months pp whilst breastfeeding. I hear there's a very wide range of normal for when they return. They did come back as they always were after they returned except my cycles were consistently longer (but I have always have long and irregular cycles).

I'm almost 28 months pp and I still haven't gotten anything back. I'm not on birth control though and we still breastfeed at night
