How many ounces of milk should a 6 month old baby be generally having in a 24 hour period?

I’d love to know this too. I know it depends on the baby but my 5.5 month girl has been on 5oz every two/2.5 hours for a long time and doesn’t want any more. Also, she’s choosing not to drink much at the moment for some reason… sometimes only having 2/3 oz

@Christie I’ve started weaning her but I feel like she doesn’t drink a lot of milk but will happily eat everything else I’m stuck!😩

My little one usually has 6-7 oz every 3 hours but since I’ve started weaning she barely finishes a full bottle. Shes been drinking around 3/4 oz recently

@Sangeeta likewise!! So like I just don’t know how many ounces they should be having? All she wants is food and not drinking her full milk!😩😩

I've just had a call with our HV about this. She said 20oz once they're on 3 meals a day is fine providing they're gaining weight, drinking water with meals and having 5-6 heavy wet nappies in a 24hr period. I know advice varies area to area and even between HV though but you could call and ask yours!

I think just make around 2-3oz and offer it. That’s what I’ve been doing because otherwise so much milk is being wasted 😖 and as long as baby is eating and having wet nappies then don’t worry to much. I was getting really stressed but it could be because they’ve started eating now and not so interested in milk atm. If baby doesn’t take bottle at all then I’d be worried ! X

@Christie my 5.5 is doing exactly the same🤦🏽‍♀️

8oz 6 times a day most times he leaves 1/2oz. He’s also having breakfast and dinner and I’m adding lunch in today. He also drinks 100ml of water everyday x

It depends how much they are eating (weaning) and very much on their weight; my sons milk has always been calculated by the NHS at minimums; https://fedisbest.org/milk-calculator-page/ This calculates to the NHS minimums but doesn’t really account for weaning! My sons not ready for weaning yet xx

@Christie same for me. Are you still feeding in the night because not having enough in the day?

@Haylee for months she’s woken twice per night for a feed, but the past two nights has been just one feed. Tbh, I’d rather wake twice to make sure she’s having something x

@Christie I just used that calculator and I’m cracking up at the fact my boy has WAY over what they said he should 😂

My HV said 24 ounces when I asked her last week. My LO doesn't drink big bottles through the day but normally does at least 2x 8oz bottles in the night. In the day I make her porridge with her milk too 😊
