Normal poo or diarrhoea with mucus?

My baby refuses his feeds from the start of the feed and screams and cries. I am suspecting CMPA, he is on kendamil and this is what his poo looks like

This looks mucusy to me, what other symptoms does little one have?

Yeah there’s bits of mucus in there. How old is he/how long has he been on Kendamil?

@Dannii he refuses his feeds from the start of the feed his screams so much and cries until he falls asleep and then he has it and finished his bottle it’s really sad to see what he’s going through. He also arches his back when he drinks his milk. His poo had mucus in it

@Hannah he’s been on it since he was born and he was fine on it but he’s three months now and screams refuses his feed completely and only drinks and finished his bottle when he’s asleep

@Wahida My LG started with the back arching but ended up developing a rash! I’d defo look at trying a prescription formula though!

@Dannii does yours have CMPA? X What prescription milk did you try? The GP gave use aptamil pepti 1 to try to see if he has CMPA. I wish there was a way to actually confirm it though I wonder if they do stool tests if I ask

@Wahida She does, yes! We tried Nutramigen first which still has milk in but is extensively broken down and a lot of CMPA babies tolerate it. We saw a massive change in her immediately and she was so happy, we did then see a return of mucus though so she needed an amino formula that is completely milk free and it’s worked wonders for her! 🩷

@Dannii does yours have CMPA? Did she refuse milks from that start of the feed? Mine refuses it from the start of the feed and doesn’t drink at all until he falls asleep or gets drowsy and then drinks it! What prescription milk did you try? The GP gave use aptamil pepti 1 to try to see if he has CMPA. I wish there was a way to actually confirm it though I wonder if they do stool tests if I ask

Go to your doctor with your pictures. Make sure you are seen. It took me months for a doctor to believe me and then I was immediately referred to a pediatrician because my son had severe milk allergy resulting in colitis. He was literally bleeding out of his bum. Your son is likely in a lot of pain like mine was

The formula my son had to use was called alimentium by similac

That poo is full of mucus and I read your comments how he is acting he definitely have cmpa based on the symptoms he having. Try to contact with your health visitor or infant feeding team and also mention it to gp someone will definitely listen to you don’t let them brush you off just keep going until they no listen.

My baby had your symptoms. It was mainly bottle refusal and screaming. We ended up only feeding when drowsy or asleep and he threw up as soon as he woke up. It was so hard. You can confirm cmpa by removing dairy for 4-6 weeks then reintroducing it. We did at 4 months and the screaming and refusal came back so we know it's an allergy. Hope it works out for you and you get sorted. It was 4 months of hell for us.

@CS I changed from kendamil to aptamil pepti 1 and then to kendamil comfort. I saw an improvement on kendamil comfort on the same day I started it which was shocking and he was drinking so good for two days and todays he’s suddenly switched and drinking so badly again refusing his bottles! I am not sure what happened cos literally for two days straight he was amazing! And then not anymore I haven’t got a clue what that’s about
