Prochlorperazine

Hey ladies, I just got back from a 16hr a&e stay. I had been constantly vomiting for 36hours. Very dehydrated and low blood pressure so they gave me twice IV drip and anti sickness. I got prescribed prochlorperazine. Has anyone had any luck with these? I’m so scared of feeling sick again, even though I’ve put up with it for the last 6 weeks. I just don’t want to do it anymore.

I don’t know if your hospital have an early pregnancy unit, but may be worth asking as for me that was much quicker. It still takes ages for the drips to actually be administered, but no waiting around in A&E waiting rooms. All you can do is give it a go. All the medications are different for everyone, so it may take you a little time to find the right mix of medicines which work for you. Or maybe prochlorperazine will be the dream drug for you. You just have to try and find out. Fingers crossed!! If you need further help finding the right mix of medication pregnancy sickness support are REALLY GREAT!

Please ask your GP for Xonvea. It is new and has been an absolute miracle drug for lots of people - and is now recommended in the RCOG guidelines for pregnancy sickness. I was so so so ill with my first, on cyclizine, prochlorperazine and ondansetron but still bedbound other than hospital trips for IV hydration back in 2021 - this pregnancy however on Xonvea its been like morning sickness! Now 32 weeks and still cant believe how normal things have been on Xonvea. Deffs worth a try. Some GPs are reluctant to prescribe it because its expensive, but show them it is recommended by RCOG and it is the only drug licensed for pregnancy sickness in the UK. Good luck, hope you find some relief soon ❤️

Sorry you went through this, medication that works really depends on people . I'm on prochlorperazine for months now, this was my 4th medication and it works well for me. I would say try it and see how you feel about it. If no improvement in 2 days I would ask my GP to change for another anti emetic, keep trying until you find what's works for you. You won't necessarily need to go back to A&E for changing medication. Good luck
