We also have held off on screen time —so following for suggestions!
Honestly at this age they aren’t that interested - I’ve tried! 😂 Probably for the best, but with all my kids they just start to notice the tv or shows around now, but they won’t sit still and actually watch something until like 22-24 months. Sesame Street is usually a hit for all great reasons and is on HBO/Max if you have that. Daniel Tiger is great too when they are a little older on Amazon prime.
I only have PBS on or Ms. Rachel, but he doesn't watch it much. He loves to play. He loves Elmo when we actually let him watch it. I believe learning shows are okay with a limit
I’ll watch my shows in the background and he won’t pay attention. For him I only put on Ms Rachel
My son is obsessed with Ms Rachel. That’s all I really put on for him. My husband puts on Rugrats for him when I’m not here 😂 I think more for him than my son though lol
I like to play documentaries and docuseries when my baby is around for background. She doesn't usually pay much attention to it which is how I prefer it but it exposes her to a lot of words she wouldn't typically hear otherwise.
I have Ms. Rachel on the tv ALL day, and my twins will watch for a while and when they get bored they walk away and play with their toys. We will literally leave the house with it still playing 🤣
We do Teletubbies and Super Simple Songs. Let me tell you… it WORKS. She knows shapes, colors, animal sounds, numbers, is close to counting to 10 and can put together small sentences. Word count is 125+ (I’ve honestly lost track). To be fair she has always been a little ahead, but she has really taken off with it. (We obviously also read all the time but it’s great supplementation)
We have kept it ridiculously minimal Id do bluey. Bluey is little mini episodes. Honestly they just don't have the attention span for most educational programming at this age, since most is so long and their attention span is so short That's why I don't like that ms Rachel is formatted in long form videos.... Mini episodes would have been a much better format
Other people have shown him stuff and he's watched kid safe animes with hubby 🤣🤣🤣. ..... But we don't ever plant him in front of the big screen . At all. And frankly his attention span is so short he'd rather be crawling around or climbing.... Than sit for anything longer than 10 minutes (aside from at the dining booster seat)
We tried to show him a movie twice now. Just not interested in even paying attention to it at this age
We'll probably wait a few years on movies, tbh
Mrs. Rachel is our go to
