Should I pump and dump?

I was invited to dinner. Before after eating, the waiters started serving shisha to people next table. It wasn’t strong smelling but I got really uncomfortable when my host ordered one. Made an excuse and up and left. Should I pump and dump? My baby is crying for milk it’s night time and I don’t know what to do.

Crying for milk=crying for comfort to sleep.

How long ago were you at dinner?

1 hr since the first shisha came out and the time I left the restaurant

@sarah

I’d say if it’s been well over an hour and that this was a one time situation it probably won’t be enough to affect baby. It really depends how long you were exposed to the second hand smoke I’d definitely shower before handling baby.

@sarah thanks for your response. Yes i was exposed to it for about an 1hr and it’s been over an hour since I am back to baby. Definitely showered before going near him.

Pumping and dumping isn’t gonna remove it as it’s in your blood stream but at least I believe after an hour and a half its already about half the amount of whatever is in your system

@sarah just wasn’t sure how long second hand smoke can stay in my system

I think they haven’t done enough research on it but from La Leche it says it can last for hours. La leche actually still recommends even if you smoke to breastfeed because it is still better for mom and baby. I dont judge others it’s a personal choice at least you know it’s safe enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

No

I wouldn’t pump and dump it personally. The same way when I drink alcohol I don’t pump and dump.
