Growth scan accuracy

How accurate were your growth scans to your actual baby’s size? I’ve been having growth scans due to gestational diabetes and the most recent scan at 37 weeks said he was 7lbs 2oz. I know these are not always accurate so I would like to know if anyone had accurate scans or if they were well off when the baby actually came.

I’ve had two babies. The first the predicted to be on the 50th percentile and he was on the 3rd. The second they predicted to be on the 80th percentile and she was on the 91st! So not accurate for me either time. It’s hugely dependent on what position baby is in and how much they’re moving if they’re able to get accurate readings x

They can be off by 2lbs in either direction

Mine was off with both babies. Said my son was 6lbs at 36 weeks but he was actually born 6lbs 1 so was smaller than expected. With my daughter at 40 weeks they said she was 7lbs 3oz but she was born 8lbs 6 ten days later, so was bigger than they thought!

Mine said my baby was 9lb and he arrived last week at 8lb 7oz x

My last one at 36+6 said baby was 8lb4 she was born at 38w exactly and she was 7lb8 xx

I had a growth scan 37 weeks and baby weighed 6lb 14oz according to them, when he arrived at 38 weeks it weighed 8lb 10oz Mine was very far out of accuracy x

I had a scan at 38 weeks. Said he was roughly 6lb 3.. I had him at 39+1 and he was 5lb 13ozs.

My last one at 37 weeks said she was 7lbs. She was born at 38+1 and was 6lbs4

Mine said he was going to be 8lb 5oz then came out 6lb 13oz So this time I'm taking tiny baby and also 1 month old stuff lol 😆

I had a scan on monday was told her growth had reduced and due to that and another health issue i’d have to be induced, weight they predicted at 38 weeks was 6 lb 5 she was 7 lb 4 when i delivered her on thursday morning 🙈

Mine was way out! They told me he was eight pounds 13 at 39 weeks, born at 41 + 2 and was eight pound four.

Mine was accurate they only measure him 100g bigger 2 days before I gave birth 🥰

My last growth scan was on 31/10 at 38 weeks and they said she was about 8lbs 6oz and I had her on 9/11 at 39+1 and she was 9lbs 9oz so for me she was quite a bit bigger 😅

Gd also told baby was gonna be big she's tiny 6.1 xx

My baby at 36+5 weeks the scan said he was 9lbs, he was born 37+3 weighing 9lb 1oz so was very accurate for us. I was searching for how inaccurate they could be at the time but ultimately it’s different for everyone. I trusted them and felt he was big, the midwives could feel he was too from touching bump ect

Mine said my baby was small throughout , either 10 or 15 percentile. He was born 5lb 11 at 20 percentile :) so pretty accurate

Thanks everyone for your responses! I had my third and final sweep today, 1cm dialated, cervix has thinned out and she felt his head! If I wasn’t already lying on the bed I think I might have fainted! That made it seem all too real now! 🥲🥲

Mine was bang on, but it’s so important to remember they can be off by 20% in either direction!

I can't remember the weight estimated at 36 weeks. However it would have put her at over 9lb at 40 weeks. I had her at 39+5 and she was 8lb 5oz so well over half a pound out.

I had a growth scan at 38+3 and baby was estimated 7b 9oz, she arrived at 38+6 at 8lb 1oz!
