Honestly, in my experience, trust your instinct because you know your baby best and ignore what your HV says. If it conflicts with other sources of advice you’ve read and you’re reluctant to reduce it so drastically, I just wouldn’t. I’d personally probably just play around with offering less oz’s in a feed and see if her appetite picks up. Or drop one as an experiment/trial, rather than dropping 3 etc.
Absolutely what Chloe says. You know your baby best. If baby is happy and healthy I don’t see why the need for such drastic measures personally just could play around with feeds like suggested by Chloe and see what happens. We’re on 3 bottles but currently swapping the midday one for a snack, even when we move to cows milk will still do morning and night for as long as she wants. Also not even close to moving away from a bottle to a cup for cows milk and not stressing. They all get there in their own time x
Oh god I dread this check then as my baby is still on 4/5 7oz bottles😂😂 she’s not big on “real food” so I’m letting her have the milk. Do what’s best for your baby honestly I can’t see my girl on 1/2 bottles and 3 meals and 2 snacks by next month lol! She’s currently on 2 ish meals but never really eats them and obviously her bottles, you know your baby best I really don’t understand why they pressure us to drop milk etc, my girl did that herself so I’m just following her lead x
Thanks everyone - I just felt as though I was being a bit judged 🤣 I am going to try 3 but she won’t take more than 5oz a feed anyway!
We’re still on 3 bottles and 3 small meals!
My boy is still having a lot of milk. 4 bottles in the day.. I’m a bit nervous for the HV review thing but I’m just not willing to starve him cause I’m not convinced that will even help cause I’ve tried to feed him when he’s really hungry.. He was slow to pick up food but is doing so well he has dropped 1 bottle but I’m just not willing to drop any more until it happens naturally. It feels like HVs give out quite outdated advice… I wonder if I can not go…
My daughter is offered 3 bottles but rarely takes more than 150ml a bottle. She has one when she gets up, one after her lunchtime nap (she has a morning nap too) and one before bed but she's on prescription milk and prefers food. We give her vitamins to ensure she's getting them still if not from the lack of milk. X
Nhs say 11mnth old should still be having around 24ounces of milk a day so I absolutely would not be doing what the HV said!! I don't understand why they'd suggest that!
Hun, you feed them as often and much as you want. All they are there to do is offer their advice, they cannot tell you what to do. I had a similar experience at six months and I told the HV straight and she said ‘no that’s fine, I can only advise’. It’s YOUR child remember that.
So glad I am not my own my baby is the same will eat small amounts but would rather have milk. Like every one has said we know our babies the best so drop one bottle when you feel ready or put less in the bottle my baby is still having 3 or 4 bottles a day. Xx
@Becky Is this online? As i was advised by our NHS dietician when my Little boy was 9 months old (he is now 10.5) he should only be having 21ounces in 24 hrs? He does have a cmpa but that shouldn’t matter surely..
@Bethan so I thought it said nhs, turns out AI had just taken a different snippet from the nhs page 🤦🏼♀️ The nhs still says 3 milk feeds a day though for formula fed babies!
My LO is the same, he won’t eat much but does have his bottles and I’m worried they’ll tell me to drop bottles but how is that feasible when they don’t eat much ☹️☹️☹️
