My firstborn was born in Covid so no groups were running. He's now 4 and absolutely fine. If you want look online on YouTube and follow one on there that's what we were told to do
@Laura yeah money is another thing! Not exactly cheap are they if you want to keep going!
@Fatima thank you for this I’ll have a look x
Might try and create some messy play myself for him once he can sit up independently
No they're not. I take her to swimming classes which cost a bit. But she really enjoys them and they could save her life one day, so I see that as necessary expenditure. But I can't afford to do sensory as well.
Not at all, they make me cringe tbh, can’t deal with the stupid singing and the clickyness 😂 Really not for me. I have started taking her to a stay and play though where she can do what she wants which was good. I also think the classes are overpriced for things you can do at home
@Emma how old is your little one? Is stay and play suitable for 5 month old ? Or better once they can play more independently you think?
@Laura I really want to take him swimming ! Think I might just take him myself though rather than a class… at first anyway just to see what he’s like x
Baby stay and play for non walkers is good. Our local children's centre has them and the lo really enjoys it. Sensory is a bit too far out for us
Yes this one we went to was, she’s 6 months in a week and a half, they had stuff for older kids but lots of mats and blankets out with baby toys and sensory bits so she was more than happy lying around playing with all of that 🙂 Just nice for a change of scenery for her, and they’re free
I go to a free baby group in my library on a Wednesday and swimming on a Friday. Haven’t done sensory because of the cost!
I saved up a bit of money before going on mat leave for additional costs; I estimated groups to be about 20-60pcm. I'm on my second baby massage course, I do a music class, swimming and local baby group. At this age the baby massage is best if your going to spend, swimming is also good but can be stressful and hit and miss for the baby. The sensory and music classes are good for socialising with other mums a bit more. I also do a monthly special events keepsake session; halloween, Christmas, Easter, fireworks etc... that's most expensive but you do 1-2hrs of aided craft with your baby.
I went to one, it coincided with her nap time and she got upset. I can't afford it on maternity pay either. But yes I feel guilty.
