Driving after c section

Just wondering how long people waited to drive after a c section? I know they say 6 weeks but just wondering if people started driving sooner?

5 weeks PP today and I haven’t yet, I’m planning to next week. Everyone is different, they say if you can do an emergency break you’re ok to drive so I’m gonna test it out stationary and see what’s up but I feel good in myself overall

I'm due a section in about 6 and half weeks and I asked my friends what they did. One waited 6 weeks and the other said she felt ok to drive after two weeks. She asked her midwife if it was ok and also had to let her car insurance know but both said as long as she felt she felt fit to safely drive she could. Think it depends on each person's recovery x

After 4 weeks i was able to but i didn’t myself until 6 weeks was too scared 🥲

I was cleared at my 6 week appointment and didn’t drive any sooner.

If you can sit up on your own and are able to flex your abdomen muscle without much pain and turn the wheel fine, you can drive. The concern is not being able to emergency brake or brace yourself without pain/rips. I drove after 3 weeks without an issue.

You can drive as soon as your doctors okay you to. I’m due a C section in about 6weeks and I have checked with my insurance and they said it doesn’t matter as long as your doctor certifies you’re okay to drive then you’re good to go.

I just drove yesterday at 4 weeks, it was absolutely fine

Drove at 3 weeks pp for a short trip then regularly started at 5 weeks! Was fine :)

I was 2.5 weeks pp, I felt fine 🤷‍♀️ I am 5 weeks pp now and I'm still using the thing to adjust the seat belt since when I was pregnant, that definitely helps.

I drove at 4 weeks but only to local shop. Didn’t do a long journey until 6 weeks. This was right time for me , I wasn’t physically ready any earlier and needed to drive as soon as I was physically able for my mental well being. Think it depends on the person and what your comfort with. My insurance wanted me to have to okay from the doctor. My doctor sort of said if you feel ready then that’s fine and i took that as the okay!

I stuck to the rules of being signed off by the doctor. Your car insurance will be invalid if someone hits you, even if it wasn't your fault

I did wait the 6 weeks as well and even then when I was driving my scar was hurting 😕

I waited till 6 weeks! I drove myself to my 6 week appointment checkup and everything was fine.

It actually depends son your car insurance policy and what that states. The minimum is 6 weeks . With my first tmy policy was 12 weeks. That was along time. As long as you can do an emergency stop or have been cleared by a dr then it's usually okay.

I had an emergency section with my daughter & after going round the houses (HV, GP & insurance) I drove at 5wks pp - I think I probably could've a week or maybe few days earlier but was more cautious knowing I'd have my daughter with me in the car. Beware you will feel muscles being used when you break etc that I couldn't believe we used (not painful, just felt them) x

I waited until my 6 week check and started with very short journeys. I wanted to make sure I felt absolutely ready before I was in charge of operating a heavy machine with my baby in the back! Don’t rush it if you can wait x
