I know how this is going to sound but… I had to stay 3 nights with my LO 8 weeks ago when she was born. We were both admitted so she had a NICU nurse and I had a normal one. Because of this we were on a special ward where both mum and baby were receiving care instead of the normal post natal ward. When baby was “discharged” on day 2, they tried to move me to the normal postnatal ward until I could be discharged. Due to being messed around with one dr telling me I could leave and another telling me I had to stay. Having 4 painful cannulas in because of misplacement. I was discharging myself ( my baby was already discharged otherwise I wouldn’t have of course ). To get me to stay, they offered me the private room. It has 2 beds, a kitchen with all facilities and a en-suite. They did say if someone else needed it then I would be free to discharge myself but no one needed it so I was able to stay and my mum could sleep over with me. I believe you can request it if pre planned x

I looked into this when a bit when we lived in exeter (just moved near bath) and was told that if there was space in exeter they have a couple of rooms but not guarantee they'd be available. Now that I've moved near bath, I've been told there is an option there to upgrade. But unlike countries like France, it sounds like if the birth goes well, you're pretty much sent home within a few hours in the uk 🙄 they don't keep you in hospital for long!
