Traveling must haves! (EBF)

First trip with LO it’s gonna be for 10 days. Any packing lists? Must haves/ not needed? They say travel light of course I want to be prepared. At least if needed we can buy anything we end up needing as we are just visiting family in another state. I don’t want to get or buy anything I won’t use. Like baby ear muffs, car seat/ stroller plane cover? Worth it or nah 😊

Have gone on two trips this past month(ish) with my LO. Didn’t need baby ear mutts or the covers. I checked her car seat and it was fine without a cover. I also used the stroller in the airport and checked at the gate- it was just me and little one so this helped since I had to carry the diaper bag and breastmilk cooler as well. (Airlines don’t cover broken car seats or strollers, just lost ones. If this makes you worried, you could get a bag) If you’re visiting family, you can always wash clothes! So you probably don’t need to bring 10 full outfits. I brought one extra diaper for each day than she normally used at home- in case of extra poops lol. But, you could always buy some when you get there- a smaller pack. Nursing on take off/landing helps their ears. I also tried to wait for a nap until we got on the plane- that way she’d fall asleep on takeoff. Bring a small blanket- planes tend to be cold around this time of year.

Quick edit: my little one can sleep through just about any sound and we’ve never used white noise. However, if your baby is used to that, ear muffs might be helpful. I would just practice wearing them at home so it’s not a big shock on travel day

Look up Alpine baby ear muffs, they’re adjustable with a Velcro strap and our baby has used them a couple times and I think it’s been comfortable for him. We’re taking our first flight with him soon so following for other tips. I did buy a cheap car seat bag on Amazon for his seat to be gate checked with his travel stroller (also had a bag it came with but not padded). You can definitely buy diapers wherever you go so I wouldn’t worry about packing too many for space. I’ve seen people use soft shoe organizers for packing baby outfits and keeping things tidy.

@Gabrielle I saw in your bio your in NM that’s actually where I’m traveling to! I’m from Abq 😊🫶🏻 awesome I’ll keep that in mind!

Boppy. I flew 3 times in my daughters first year of life and since she was nursing she basically lay across my lap on the boppy and nursed or slept the whole time so it was pretty easy. Also recommend Tula lite baby carrier. It folds into itself like a fanny pack and has a fanny pack too. It’s awesome and super light for travel and it’s really Helpful to be able to baby wear while traveling.
