Speech

My little boy will be 2 in February. He is saying a few words like ‘cat’ ‘tractor’ ‘car’ etc, some of which don’t sound exactly as they should 🤣 I would say that he doesn’t speak very much though, and is generally just babbling. Should we be concerned at this point? Tia

My boy says, doggy, daddy and hiya. I got the HV who did his 15m review to come out and assess him. He’s being referred as she can see he understands what I’m saying and has good eye contact but just isn’t saying the words. I’m grateful she’s referring him now for extra help as I can see he’s getting frustrated. My parents think I shouldn’t worry and he’s just being lazy, and they could be right. But I’m just worried so reached out for help x

That’s helpful, thanks Sophie! How do you contact the health visitor? We didn’t have a 15 month review!

We are currently in a similar situation, he will be 2 years in February as well. The gp has referred us but I’m yet to hear from SALT,

What? No 15m review? Where are you based? I’m in south wales and we have a contact centre we can get in touch and can book into baby wellness clinics every Monday, so can also speak to someone then. If not I would contact your GP or even midwife to find out if they can refer you to get a contact to talk to x
