37 weeks is considered term (so its fine for baby to come any time after this), 40 weeks is full term but most babies arent born until 41 weeks. You dont need to accept an induction at 40 weeks thats crazy, due dates are just estimates. If baby is doing well and there are no risk factors, then its fine to go to 42 weeks and even then, we can just ask for extra monitoring if we don't want to accept induction.
37 weeks is considered full term. Anything prior to 37 would be considered as premature. They don’t tend to let you go 10 days past your due date without induction. You can refuse but they are quite insistent x
Full term gestation is between 37-42 weeks. If baby is delivered prior to 37 weeks it will be considered premature however a lot of babies after 35/36 weeks are delivered healthy & don’t need much extra care. The most underdeveloped area is the lungs and they roughly reach maturity at 36/37 weeks. As for induction that’s up to you and depends on hospital policy. I started my induction at 41+5 with the pessary and then onto next steps and end up arriving 42+1. 40 weeks/due date is such a rough indicator.
Anything prior to term is premature, like if you had your baby now... Too early...
Anything under 37 is considered premature.
My daughter was premature (30w) and it's 37 weeks. Most of the babies on the unit went home at 37-38w.
Just to back all this up, I had my first at 36+6 and he was classed as prem 🙄 barely haha
I’m pretty sure 37 weeks is the full term mark
