I will plan to assuming everything goes well. I’m scheduled for 12/12 :)

I did - I’m really quite easy going about a lot of things - but I wanted this. Their policy was to do about 3 minutes delay - so not as long some. But I was satisfied that it would at least have benefit to have that delay.

We didn’t, my daughter ended up pooping in me during the c section and they wanted to get her out and cleaned up quickly.

I was under general anesthesia with both mine so they couldn’t do it. Had to umbilical cord cut and baby out asap so the anesthesia didn’t affect them

I had an emergency c section and I had delayed clamping. In the UK it is now standard practice unless there is a need to get baby away quickly for your health or theirs 😊

genuine question is the delayed cord cutting happen while placenta is still attached to you? or once it’s been removed? as in do they keep you open for longer or just remove placenta and baby and continue sewing you back up (monday morning I am having mine)

@Lillie I’m asking this exact question to my OB on Tuesday. I understand there are two ways to get the placenta out during a c section. Not sure how long it takes, but one way is where they kinda jiggle the cord to “pull” out the placenta and the other sounds more like a surgical removal. I’ve heard the former is preferred but can’t find a lot of info online to be honest 😩 might be something to ask during your triage!! I imagine they don’t want to keep us open for too long, so might be unwilling to do the delay until cord stops pulsing clamping, but I’m not certain!

@Claire had my section monday and asked this question! they leave it for a minute or two attached and then continue to close you up x
