Very common it’s because their tear ducts are still developing. I was advised to just keep clean with cool boiled water and cotton pad (change with every wipe) it should ease after a couple days and then go. If it doesn’t or gets worse you could always pop to the GP or HV
Hi there, i think it may be conjunctivitis, very common, my daughter got it all the time in the first year of her life. I would call the doctor and explain the symptoms, they will prescribe eyedrops (hopefully) and whenever we did the eyedrops with my daughter, it was gone within a few days!
I’ve seen people recommend cleaning with breast milk
My baby has the same it’s a blocked tear ducts, with your pinky finger massage the inner corner of the eye frequently it won’t go away quickly but will help, if you do get really concerned call the gp
If you’re breastfeeding, breast milk works wonders on eye infections.
Looks like a blocked tear duct. This has happened to my babies. Clean it with cool boiled water whenever you see that mucus form and it’ll clear very quickly if it’s a blocked duct. Which most likely is.
My baby had sticky eyes when he was first born. I used breastmilk to help clear it up and it worked wonders! It ended up going on its own x
Looks like a Blocked tear duct give the go a call may need some little drops to clear it up, if breast feeding try little milk to help clear it up x
My boy was the same, midwife and GP said it was tear ducts developing but it continued until around 10 weeks old. GP said they wouldn’t do anything unless it continued until he was 1 (sounds crazy!). So we took him to a cranial osteopath and she explained it was caused by forceps during the c section. She did some very delicate work on him (literally just looked like placing her hand on his head) and he’s been much better since. He’s seen her twice and now is five months old and hasn’t had any issues with his eyes for two months. Highly recommend seeing a cranial osteopath if you still have concerns in a few weeks ☺️
My son had this for many weeks when first born. I used a cotton pad and cool boiled water like you 3 times a day and eventually it went. Be sure to only use the pad once and wipe from the inside of the eye (nose) out. It will go, just takes some time 🥹
Put some breast milk on it
We had the same turned out to be a staph A infection and we got antibiotic eye drops for it I would pick it up with your midwife/GP x
could be blocked tear duct of pink eye. my bubs had a lot of blocked duct issues around this age
I had the same just continue to wipe only in one direction as could spread also if you are breast feeding you can also bathe the eye in breast milk to clean x

Cotton pads and warm breastmilk! This had my boys ear cleared in 2 days :)
It’s probably just a tear duct not draining properly Do little massages from the corner of eye down the nose
My daughter has the same, they took a swab whilst we were in the hospital and it came back clear, the midwife told us to just clean with cotton pad and sterile water or breast milk x
My baby had this at the same age, keep rinsing with cooled boiled water as you have been, and if you’re breastfeeding, squirt a little into the eye - works wonders! My health visitor told me this trick
Blocked duct, put a warm towel over the eye and lightly massage on the nose around the duct to clear it - my baby had clogged ducts like CRAZY! It resolved itself after a while
My daughter had this, breastmilk cleared it right up! - just clean everything away with a cotton pad like you were doing but use breast milk instead, and even after it’s cleaned, do it a few more times to prevent it returning. Ours hasn’t come back since.
My daughter had the same blocked tear duct, she is 9 months now and still has it occasionally, I just wipe with Cotton pad
Looks like conjunctivitis to me. This is how my girl was when she had conjunctivitis. You can go to any pharmacy and get baby seen by the pharmacist and get something for conjunctivitis on the nhs minor ailments
That looks like conjunctivitis, you need to see a GP. It needs treatment prescribed by a doctor if your baby is under 30 days old, don’t leave it to clear up as it can be more serious in babies x
Breast milk and rubbing on the side of the nose bridge near the eye then make ur way under the eye works wonders!! It will be gone most likely the next day
U can use your breast milk best
I would be careful cos he’s so small, but check with your doctor if he can have any drops for conjunctivitis. Careful cos it can spread easily to the other eye. That should clear it up, or try to find natural remedies for conjunctivitis. Hope that helps ❤️
Give your doctors a call if they are open today. If not call 111 it looks like a small eye infection.
